Don’t tell people to calm down. You’re not the teacher. People are furious. Furious, and looking for an outlet for that anger. And some outlet had better be found pretty quick or there’s going to be trouble. I was at a Shutdown DC emergency protest this evening at Judiciary Sq and I’m telling you, there is a ton of pent up rage and anger ready to come out over this.

Calm down.

If this ruling triggers "rage" in you then you really need to consider changing your media consumption.

If this miscarriage of justice doesn’t trigger “rage” in you, then you are either a republican or a the typical DC boutique progressive whose activism consists primarily on their Facebook or Instagram account.

I could care less about something that happens in Wisconsin. I don’t live under that state’s laws and I certainly don’t know them. Sadly, everyone gets so “raged” over anything they disagree with, it gets lost in all the noise. I’d rather trust the jury who got to the verdict.

The problem is that a large percentage of the people who are enraged about this trial are literally acting out of sheer ignorance. Some think all the people shot were black, others haven’t seen the video footage of Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse or shouting the n word earlier, or even know that Gaige testified in court that he pointed his gun at Rittenhouse before he was shot. Even less people even have read lengthy articles in The NY Times and Washington Post that detail the entire event solely by analyzing video from the night. Far fewer people have read the charging documents against Rosenbaum or even know that he served 14 years in prison for raping young 9 to 11 year olds.

I have never seen a court case where one side is arguing with such little knowledge of the facts. It’s like having an opinion on the Rodney King trial without watching footage of the cops beating him or having an opinion about OJ while being shocked when someone says Mark Furman was a racist.

That's a nice backdrop on why those people claiming "the DOJ is going to investigate...real justice is coming" have their heads so far up their butts, I'm not sure how they're able to draw breath.

If this verdict triggers "rage" in you, consider seeking professional help. The jury's verdict was appropriate given the facts, which overwhelming support the defendant's claim of self-defense. You would have to do violence to the burden of proof and presumption of innocence to come to a different conclusion. As a moderate, it is comical (and a bit frightening) to see so-called liberals lose their minds over this verdict.

The enraged are simply ignorant of the facts but can’t be bothered to pursue them because apparently blind, dumb rage is something they enjoy. We should collectively be very concerned about the sheer stupidity of our fellow countrymen

We should also be concerned that it is totally acceptable for a 17 year old to illegally possess an automatic weapon, and cross state lines during a riot literally seeking trouble and not only suffer no repercussion for killing two people, but being celebrated and rewarded for his actions.

No remorse whatsoever, no self-awareness. He is going to kill again, bank on it.

1. There was no automatic weapon.
2. Crossing state lines is not a crime and something millions of people do daily.
3. You have no idea of the future. None.

It's very concerning. You can't reason with someone who chooses to be ignorant.

For the Rittenhouse defenders, this is why people are upset. Yes, different cases and circumstances, but in the big picture the parallels are not lost.

Even when presented with facts, you choose to ignore them and paint your own narrative.

- is this verdict a victory for white supremacy?

Apparently, a case where one white dude shot three other white dudes in self defense is, somehow, an example of white supremacy.

For the whackadoodles, the two cases have nothing to do with each other. Different cases, different circumstances.

You are just trying to generate racial animosity. Maybe think that plan through and consider where it leads.

I thank you for that. Having the sidewalk to yourself is a natural right of every white man. And make you speak only when spoken to.

In the big picture Trayvon was a tragedy. Trayvon was not a 36 year old ex con who raped little boys and served 14 years in prison for doing so.

Again, it is not rocket science. If you rape little kids, get out of prison and some 17 year old kills you when you chase him into a car lot I am not going to waste any energy arguing for prison time for the kid who killed you. Sorry.

Some bad faith actors on left are acting like the actual facts don’t matter because it is inconvenient for their narrative. It would be so much better for their story if Rosenbaum wasn’t a white child rapist who served 14 years in prison for raping kids and was at the protest that night not to protest Jacob Blake but because he just wandered into the area after being released from a mental hospital with a plastic bag full of his belongings. But he was a white child rapist and he could care less about BLM or Jacob Blake. He was not an ally. He was not some innocent who was just gunned down for no reason. He was a crazed child rapist who chased a 17 year old boy into a car lot. If Rosenbaum actually was some altruistic activist who was actually gunned down for no reason I would have a different opinion. But he wasn’t and people need to acknowledge that.

And I cross the street when I see someone who I know served 14 years in prison for raping little boys. How about you?
