I always knew women were out enrolling men overall, but before a lot of that was driven at shit tier schools. I was shocked to see the UCLA number.

Usually tier 1 schools have good gender balance.

Even Berkeley is 54/46 women. And penn is 52/48 women.

Even sons of higher earning families fall behind their sisters

The observation about the gender gap decreases as you move up in college rankings is key point. Men are earning fewer degrees overall, but the ones who do are earning them from higher ranked schools.

I’ve come to accept that society is geared toward stratifying men’s status more aggressively than women’s. Women are herded toward the middle of the bell curve while men are herded away from the middle and toward the extremes.

I just can’t take seriously anything about American culture written in the Murdoch WSJ.

That paper and that family are dedicated to culture war, in pursuit of votes. They choose stories and reporters and writers based on who will help them politically.

You're assuming most of the trade jobs involve going into someone's home and they don't. Most plumbers are on new builds or commercial, especially the better ones. Compare that to running all around town fixing backed up toilets if you do repairs.

My relative is a finish carpenter and she's never stepped foot in an occupied house for work. Another relative is an HVAC tech -- only does installs on new houses. Another is a backhoe operator -- commercial land and new builds only.
