With teachers vaccinated, why are we still talking about hybrid, and not a full return to school?

What are you talking about? Almost all FCPS teachers will be fully vaccinated before they even go back to work.

For high school it doesn't matter. Teachers of middle school and high school students will be at a high level of risk because their students have bodies that are like adult bodies, not kid bodies, and those students have not been vaccinated. Just look at the Ballou teacher who died this past weekend. It is obscene that that some of you expect teachers to expose themselves to such great risk when there is no reason for it.

No. Teachers of middle school and high school students will be vaccinated.

They will be vaccinated.

Let that poor Ballou teacher rest in peace.

Apparently you aren't reading any science reports. The vaccines have not been proven effective with the general population; the vaccines have only had an efficacy with a small self-selected population that does NOT resemble the general population. The vaccines do NOT have any proven effectiveness against the new mutations. Middle school students and high school students can carry the virus and infect teachers. Even IF teachers are vaccinated they can still carry the virus home and infect others in their households. Stop making stupid choices that have negative impacts on others. If you want the "poor Ballou teacher" to "rest in peace" then start making smarter choices that wouldn't have placed her in harms way. THAT'S the way to respect her and her family.

Please educate us with a link to any one of these "science reports" that you've been reading.

Don’t bother arguing with this person, pretty sure they’re an anti-vaxxer and if you believe that the vaccines work they call you a Trump supporter for some reason. Very weird troll.

Here you are. I'll give you a little hint for the future. Don't dare someone to do something when you know that you are wrong and the other person is right. You'll get show up every single time. Idiot troll.

School age kids are going to daycare? WTH?

Yes? Have you been living under a rock? Ffx county set up expensive school age daycare at the schools
that were closed for (free) education. Other private companies have also made a fortune offering expensive school age daycare this year. What do you think people who have to go to work have been doing, leaving their six year olds home alone???

70% of TJ kids chose to stay home in the fall. The fact that the smartest kids who have the most to lose by not coming back to their labs chose to stay online should tell you something.

That number is probably even higher now, since the in-person returns have dropped by 20% since fall at two other HS I'm aware of.

My God, isn’t it obvious? They like DL because it’s easier to cheat!

That will of course be true for some students, but I have plenty of students who aren't cheating and who are staying home (I know they know their stuff because they participate in class, ask good questions, seek clarification, come to office hours and demonstrate their knowledge). I also have plenty of students who are cheating and who are planning on coming back to school. I suspect that the parents are making them come back because the cheating isn't working out too well and they expect the in-person special sauce to fix everything.

Well, obviously if they are in person they won’t be able to cheat right in front of you, so yeah?

Why do you let your kids cheat?

Are you being intentionally obtuse? Or is this really you?

I’m a DP. If your kids are cheating, you have bigger issues than DL.

The question posed, "Why do you let your kids cheat?" How many parents are sitting next to their MS/HS students during DL like the kindergartners? Cheating has been going on since the beginning of time. DL just turned it into an industry. You can cast stones from your high moral ground, but it's an essentially meaningless POV.

Sigh. Efficacy refers to the trials with the self-selected small groups. Effectiveness refers to the actual success in the real situation. The poster is correct that the mutations render the vaccines less effective, sometimes significantly so. It is an emerging situation and there isn't a lot of data because...wait for it...the situation is emerging. (DP)

DP. The real world effectiveness of the vaccines is excellent. And the mRNA vaccines are effective against the variants, in studies and the real world. Some of the other vaccines aren't, in the real world, unfortunately.

Let me know when you decide that ABC, NPR and CNN are not valid enough for you.

How in the world do you not know how to make links clickable LOL. Now I know you’re the person who spammed all the school forums with the Ballou teacher news because that ALSO wasn’t clickable. You’re an anti-vaxxer.

Nope. I've already been vaccinated against the virus! BTW I chose not to make the links clickable. You can figure out how to copy and paste. It will be hard for you but I am sure that eventually you'll be able to do it. I got the idea from the Ballou poster. So get your lazy buns working and start copying and pasting.

Okay, we all know that you didn't know how to make clickable links given that you have chosen the "kindergarten playground" style defense. I'm sure you'll Google it now and learn how to do it, though.

You don’t even have to DO anything! Just accurately copy the link from the news article! It’s utterly bizarre that the AV troll “cHoSe” to make them not clickable.

Well, Mr. or Ms. CNN Science managed the fine art of copying, pasting, and breaking a link. It's quite possible that they're an anonymous school board member.
