| Agreed re: tourneys and cannot figure out why NL coaches do not opt for better competition but NL 2028s blew Integrity out last year. I think they scrimmaged Stars and NL crushed them as well. |
| False. They never scrimmage Stars 2028 |
NL 28s has only played Stars 28 1 time and it was early in NGLL last year. They have not played or scrimmaged since and the Stars team has since split into A (Light Blue) and B (Navy) teams. I never saw NL 28s playing in any meaningful tourneys this past summer or fall and much lower competition than Stars, Pride, Integrity, Renegades and others all play. |
NL 28s beat Stars Light Blue 12-8 last year and tge game was bot that close. |
| That was NGLL and not a scrimmage. And as previous posted said that was a stars team that included many girls who didn’t make their A team after tryouts this summer. The 2028 light blue team is way different from the Stars 2028 team that was in NGLL last spring. |
It’s weird how much people want to dump on this team. They beat HoCo Black a couple weeks ago. Are they a top team? No. Are they a good team? Yes. They sit rather comfortably and very competitively within a specific tier, along with CCLax, HoCo Black, NEMS, Limelight, FCA, Integrity and Hero’s White. Pride Red is maybe just a little bit better. Stars seems to be in flux so who knows. They were not a good team last year but seem to have improved so that they are either in that tier or in that even smaller sliver with Pride Red and Sky Walkers Blue. It’s not that complicated and I’m not sure why it deserves adults tutt-tutting the quality of a 6th grade lacrosse team. |
Great for Stars. So what’s your point? |
The point is it was not a scrimmage!!!!!!!!! It was a game!!!! Don’t you see????? Too funny. Stars, NL, Pride etc are all good teams/programs with I am sure great kids. Starting to wonder about the sanity of some of the parents. |
I'm sure everyone's definition of close is different, so pointless in bringing it up. What is relevant now is the NL 28 team hasn't played anyone over the past 6-7 months. They are nowhere near the same level as Pride, Stars or any other MD program. |
Just my two cents but NL 28s just played M&D Black (lost 6-1 I believe) and HoCo Black (NL won 6-5) in the last 3 weeks. They should play more competitive teams in tournaments and I hope are in the A Division of NGLL. They have some really good players. |
Where to begin with this angry post. NL beat Stars. NL beat Limelight. NL beat Heros White. NL beat Integrity twice last year including for the championship. NL beat HoCo Black and NL played M&D Black much closer than many other great teams but yes, I suppose they are “nowhere near the same level as . . . any other MD program.” |
It only seems like people are dumping on them, because they have an over inflated opinion of themselves as a program. They Talk the Talk, but have played VERY little competition since last spring. No one was trying to say that they are a bad team. They belong in the same pool as Renegades, Integrity, Stars, Hoco Black, and Sky Walkers Blue for the time being. They just haven't played those teams recently. It is hard to know where you stand if you don't ever play teams in the standings. And the parents using 1 NGLL game last April as their litmus test is proving their point. NL had a great NGLL season last spring. So, they should have tested the waters by playing in some of the upper brackets in tournaments last summer and this fall to see where they fit in the NGLL pecking order, but they didn't. They have no way to show how they compare to Pride, Stars, or Sky Walkers be cause they didnt' play them or even the same teams. Pride, Stars and Sky Walkers all have similar common opponents from the summer and fall tournaments. |
Yeah, I agree with most of this. But I don’t think anyone is saying NL is in the same class as Coppermine, M&D, Maryland United etc. From what I can glean people started dumping on them when the rankings were put out. The posts in support of NL have been in response to people saying they play nobody. One poster observed that any MD program is better so I think there is some animus just don’t know where or what it is borne out of. NL is a solid team, not great, and I think most people (NL parents included) would agree. |
I still don’t understand your complaint. Fall tournaments are not that serious. I presume they will all eventually play each other in the spring and when they do then people can judge. Seems really silly to be out here criticizing girls and a team you are not a part of because you don’t like that people are positive about it? What does that have to do with you? |
| Not complaints, just reality. You say fall tournaments don't matter, hut waht about summer? Someone previously said, that with their winning spring season you would have expected to see them playing in higher bravkets against better teams. They seem to be basing all of their confidence on last spring's performance in the B division of NGLL. Did they add new players this season? Are rhey stronger than last? If not, then they are probably still a B+ team and fit in with all of the other B+ teams (integrety, renegades, skywalkers, hoco black, heros white, Stars). . Are they playing in a winter league? |
