Having a vote will expose the GOP on the fence more than anything else. I don't know why you keep banging the drum on this, it only hurts the GOP. Not the PP. I am not saying that Pelosi is trying to protect the republicans. She is trying to protect the process. If you force the republicans to go on record against the inquiry, then they will have a harder time voting to impeach after the case is fully formulated. If you don’t force them to declare now, they can watch the debate, the shifting public opinion etc and she will have a better chance (than currently) to peel off a couple of republican votes for a “bipartisan impeachment”. Once they cast a vote against the inquiry, there are sunk costs against even a few members casting a pro-impeachment vote. Vulnerable members of her own caucus have already put themselves on the line. They may pay for it. I hope their courage will be rewarded instead. But that cake is baked. We will see what happens when we cut the cake next year at election time.

Thank you! All the Democrats who are in favor of the inquiry are already “on the record” with official statements from their offices. A vote at this point before all the evidence is out there would be preliminary and would just send it to the Senate for Mitch McConnell to quickly dispatch. That’s why the Rs are beating the drums for a vote right now.

I don't know.. I feel like GOP members are too scared to do anything. They are indeed spineless, and Colin Powell agrees. There doesn't seem to be any Rs with any kind of moral courage to speak up. I'm so glad I left this party a long time ago. They've become a party of cowards. If you had said 10.. 15.. years ago that Rs would be saying they don't trust our IC publicly, and instead side with the Russians, I would've said you are stupid. But now.... wow. Reagan surely must be turning over in his grave. Even Nixon might be, too, even though he probably did hate the FBI.

The bottom line is that it's neither illegal, nor an impeachable offense, for a politician--including the President--to use his or her position to seek political favors. It's standard operating procedure and all the swamp creatures in Washington do it, constantly. That's part of "politics." The way to correct it is to field a better candidate and vote for that candidate.

The loser from all this is obviously Joe Biden. Does anyone seriously believe that Hunter didn't get his Ukrainian paychecks simply because of who his daddy was/is? That doesn't necessarily mean Biden broke the law. Hunter has been strangely quiet, remarkable, isn't it? Probably because his attorneys have told him to keep his mouth closed. One would think Hunter would be very visible and vocal on all news media explaining how he came to get a $50,000/month paycheck other than simply because his daddy was the V.P. But nope--no explanation. Hmmmm.
