Quid pro quo might not mean what it used to. Nor does liberty, and justice for all. |
Sadly, true because they are spineless. But if the vote were anonymous, you'd see a different outcome: https://www.foxnews.com/media/ex-mccain-romney-adviser-tells-msnbc-30-gop-senators-would-impeach-trump-in-secret-ballot |
DP.. yes, but there will *always* be die hard fans. There are those who supported Nixon till the moment he walked to the helicopter after reigning to those who still support Nixon. They can explain why die hard Trumpsters will dig in. https://www.newsweek.com/why-do-trump-supporters-ignore-his-lies-and-broken-promises-606171 |
These Republican lawmakers aren’t turning on Trump. In fact, “the transcript released yesterday with Mr. Zelensky’s consent, shows unequivocally there was no quid pro quo. Mr. Trump never mentioned military aid or suggested he would suspend funding until allegations about Hunter Biden we’re investigated.”
https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/impeachment-is-what-vladimir-putin-wants-11569453203 As usual, this is all some major wishful thinking on the part of Democrats. Americans are sick to death of your absurd antics. |
That represents the views of 19 Republicans, not all Republicans. |
+1 A different R thinks that there are about 30 R senators who would impeach if it was anonymous. https://www.foxnews.com/media/ex-mccain-romney-adviser-tells-msnbc-30-gop-senators-would-impeach-trump-in-secret-ballot America is sick to death of Trump's many absurdly stupid antics. |
OP asserted that Republican lawmakers are “turning on Trump”. Perhaps some are - but this article makes it clear that quite a few are not, and explains why. |
It only explains that some of the Rs are spineless and hypocritical. Nothing more. If Obama had done this.. you get the picture. |
Democrats hold 45 Senate seats. Only 67 votes are needed to sustain impeachment. If 19 Republicans are already turning on Trump do the math. 11 Republicans voted against Trump yesterday to over turn Trump's fictional emergency declaration. I think as evidence trickles out a few more Republicans will turn. That's why there are hearings. |
Agree with your general point but worth clarifying that all the Republicans in the WSJ op-ed are a) in the House and b) not turning on Trump |
What are your plans for Pence? |
Depends what Pence said to Zelenskyy in Poland. |
And there are 198 Rs in the House. Why only 19 signed the op ed? |
Could you not process what I wrote? It does not matter what the monority in the House does or says at this point. A majority of the House will vote to impeach. I rightly pointed out that we may be within 3 or 4 votes of having a 2/3 majority in the Senate to sustain impeachment. And the hearings have only just begun. |

So I’m not sure where you’re getting your 19 from. |
