Wrong! Per the memo of the 7/25 call, Zelenskyy says "We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically we are almost. ready to buy more Javelins from the United States for defense purposes." The very next words out of Trumps mouth were "I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it." He then asks Zelenskyy to track down the DNC server (there is nutty right wing conspiracy theory the DNC server is in Ukraine and that Ukraine, not Russia, hacked the server). Zelenskyy assures Trump "I guarantee as the President of Ukraine that all the investigations will be done openly and candidly.. That I can assure you." Trump then tells him go after Biden too. At the direction of the White House, hundreds of millions of dollars of congressional approved aide to Ukraine was on hold at the time of the call. Per the whistle blower complain we also know Trump (through Rudy) was dangling a White House meeting for Zelenskyy if he played ball. The visit is confirmed in the call as well after Zelenskyy promises to do Trumps bidding. It's as clear as day. |
And yet Rupert Murdoch‘s Wall Street Journal was fit to publish this sack of lies by these Republicans. Huh. |
You mean, it's as clear as mud. He was asking the leader of Ukraine to find out Ukraine's role in the 2016 elections. Because, they WERE involved in influence. |
If that's what he was trying to do (and it wasn't), there are legal ways for him to have done that that would not have required withholding authorized defense funds as a threat, changing the story several time son why those funds were held up, opening a back channel with his personal lawyer, a white house coverup, and hiding transcripts on secret servers. |
This. If what he did is as innocent as you (and he) say it is, then why all of the guilty looking behaviors that followed... |
PP, you can think of the whistleblower complaint as a kind of annotation and explication of the phone call. The phone call is all shorthand for stuff for which the groundwork had been previously prepared. I'd hate to be in Zelensky's shoes. "He's a reasonable guy" (Trump re: Zelensky) is code for "under my thumb and he knows it" |
What was Manafort's role? |
Only 19 know how to spell their own names? |
That thump you heard was Trump throwing Pence under the bus. |
If this were innocent, Barr or Wray would have initiated an FBI investigation under the Foreign Corruption Act. The fact that Trump used Rudy as an off-the-books operative speaks volumes. |
There is no way Trump would be impeached without taking Pence down....bet on this! |
Cute answer, but I'm still waiting for a Trumpster to explain this. Why did only 19 out of the 198 Rs (about 10%) sign the op ed. If all the Rs are so sure of Trump's innocence, I would have expected way more than 19 to sign this. |
You are confused. The 19 Republicans in the op-Ed cited above are not against Trump. Quite the opposite - they agree that nothing illegal occurred. |
Stop misspelling his name. It’s “Zelensky”. |
Republican lawmakers will not turn on Trump until they are convinced that he cannot be re-elected and that is a long way away. If and when they are convinced they will attempt to show that they have some steel in their backbones but it will only be to get Pence into the Oval Office before the election. Moderate republicans like me who can't stomach and won't vote for Trump will vote for Pence over some like Warren. |
