How can you tell which posters on this forum are related to police?

My son could be a policeman. My daughter could be a policewoman. not true in my case

However, my best friend's husband is a policeman turned detective. My father's best friend was a cop. My friend's son is a policeman.

It's all about perspective. You may believe that police have an agenda, which plays into stereotypes. But that could be said of all people. All lawyers in Big 10 firms are out to get money. All teachers are in the profession b/c of summers off. I could go on and on.

In this case, there are too many holes regarding Smollet's situation, and whatever is holding him back from turning over his phone is probably information that will fill some gaps.

Also this guy has lawyers. He’s well represented. If he’s taking legal advice to not turn his phone over it’s because his lawyer knows he’s guilty of a hoax.

b/c there's information that may damage his reputation if it's connected to the case, right???

No one has a right to air his dirty texts unless they're connected to the case in some way. So if he's sharing his penis with a lover who's not connected to the case, the penis pics aren't aired.

Is he afraid something may be leaked? maybe - But that stuff happens to teens, too. How many times do we tell our kids to watch what they're texting or putting on social media? That should be the case for an ADULT, too, especially one in the limelight.

The police can get all relevant info related to this case - call logs, duration, GPS coordinates - from his cellular service provider. There's zero reason they need the phone.

I wouldn't turn over my phone to the cops, either.

This may be hard to understand but I think it is important to explain it because people need to understand: what is posted on social media is out there. Yes, when you text someone they can leak it, when you email someone, they can leak it. However, even if you behave in a circumspect manner with regard to communicating to other people, the cell phone is STILL a personal electronic device that holds a huge amount of data. Mine has my entire email account accessible on there. Who I donated to in previous elections is in my email, pay statements are in there, tax returns are in there, pdfed medical information is in there. I have no doubt that it is possible to see comments that I have posted anonymously online.

I have done nothing illegal, and I'm not even a famous person where anyone in the media would be happy to print a scoop about me, and it would be extremely stupid to hand over my phone.

You're right! Wearing a ski mask automatically hides your race so well. There is no way to tell what race these people are, is there?

And they absolutely will get that information. Not turning his phone over just stalls the investigation a little. If they want physical access to the phone they'll get it too.

He wanted attention, he got it. He claims MAGA guys tried to lynch him. Now we see what his words are worth. It's time for the full might, power and virtually unlimited resources of the government to find out exactly what happened.

Seems really strange and sad for you to hate Smollett. Nothing has shown him to have lied. You need to find a purpose for your contempt and rage.

Exactly. And then the same dopes who believed Nathan Phillips was a Vietnam Vet and Jazmine Barnes was killed by a white man with blue eyes will be oh so silent.

Until the next hoax pops up. They never learn. Like the swallows to Capistrano they return to each hoax squeaking and squawking like the dumb animals they are.

Dp. Quit trying to make a liar out to be a saint and a rational person out to be a hater.

Define lying.

A partial truth is a lie.

We don't know what (or if) he's holding back. not yet . . .

He said he had a broken rib but police say no broken rib? A lie? Or an inconvenient truth?

Perhaps the officers he called broke his rib and the hospital is covering it up?

It’s still lying. Lying by omission.

“In the early hours of Tuesday morning, after traveling from New York to Chicago on Monday night, Empire actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in a possible hate crime. According to TMZ, sources directly linked to Smollett say the actor was exiting a Subway sandwich shop at 2 A.M. when two white men accosted him, using anti-gay and racist slurs before putting his head in a noose, pouring bleach on him, and reportedly screaming, “This is MAGA country.”

Both men were wearing ski masks, the source told TMZ, and Smollett was hospitalized with a fractured rib.”

A star on Fox's "Empire," Smollett told authorities he had gone for a bite to eat in the upscale Streeterville neighborhood about 2 a.m. Tuesday when two men yelling racist and homophobic slurs attacked him and left him with injuries to his face, police said.

Broken rib disappeared. Completely normal.

Smollett is not quoted as saying he had a broken rib. Take that issue up with TMZ and its unnamed source.
