Karen Pence is Teaching at School that Bars LGBT Students and Teachers

I find it super weird that the Pences are so interested in what people do in their bedrooms or who they love. And as self proclaimed freedom loving Republicans, the Pences choose to have government intrude in adults' sexual relations?

It is just weird and unsettling.

What are you talking about? None of the kids, LGBT or not, can enroll himself into the school. Parents have to enroll them. Prior to enrollment, parents and the kids, if they choose the same school where Pence is teaching, required to sign the contract that lists all the requirements. If the powerless LGBT kid don't agree with the school statement, no one going to force him to spend there even one day.

Do you have an examples when LGBT kid were forced to go to Christian school?

As a person with a trans sibling I can predict what a trans or gay child will do in this situation. The child probably will not tell anyone about his/her true feelings because they are afraid their family will reject them and their society (basically their school) will shun them. They’ve been taught it’s wrong and it’s a sin to be that way and “those” kind of people go to hell. So they won’t come out. They will repress it. And then they will be so miserable, hate life, very likely attempt suicide. But hey, no one was going to “force him to spend even one day there” so it’s no big deal.

So, your sibling were attending one of these christian schools?

There are no facts in your post, just guesses.

DP here and I went to a Catholic school so I can tell you what happens: kids suppress their identity, graduate, move on to liberation in college when they no longer have to supress themselves, and then give a big FU to their alma mater and most of their classmates, never looking back. At least that's what several very dear friends of mine did.

So what I think is hilarious about this all is that Karen Pence is going to work at a school at which Donald Trump would NEVER be allowed to work, because he would be fired for his philandering, polyamorous conduct and breaking of the bonds of marriage. Marriage in his case of course is one man, 3 women, plus quite a few mistresses on the side.

When you really think about it, it's a slap in the face to her husband's boss.

Love it.

How many is several? 10? 20? Out of thousand? There always will be people who not happy about their school/family/college/work ...They will move on with their life and will never look back. What is your point?

Government intruding in your sexual relations? She went to private school, not government operated school.

In your scenario, what prevents that particular child to go to the all accepting public school?

Pp here. Are you for real? A child who is already out as trans or gay isn’t going to have their parents pick this school and the school won’t take them anyway so stop being obtuse. The issue is a student who hasn’t told anyone their true identity, including their parents. You think a family who would send their kid to a school like this where they have to sign these kind of contracts re anti gay and anti trans is going to be a ok once their kid comes out to them. Get real. No that kid is going to feel ashamed of who they are, suppress it, deny it, hate themselves. Because if they tell, they know their family will reject them, the school will kick them out, they will be rejected. Or at least that’s what they think given the environment they’re in. Maybe their family will have a come to Jesus and actually be Christian and accept hem but you don’t know that until you tell them and they’re too scared to. What that leaves you with is an internally tortured child/teen who is scared, may hate themselves. The trans community, especially trans youth, has the highest suicide attempt rate of any demographic. My MTF sibling has tried 4 times. She is not unique in this way. A real Christian school has compassion and accepts everyone.

The point is that when gay kids get sent to repressive religious schools they have to suppress their true selves and endure a cruel school experience. Luckily our society has evolved so most will find liberation once they move away from these environments and can breathe free to be true to themselves. Thank goodness for progress, though sadly too many people still lose family and (unworthy) friends when coming out.

And why no one assisted your sibling in granting their wish to die? If you are so supportive of the child's choice, why not to help him/her to die if this is what they want?

So, in your story, it is parent's fault for not recognizing the child's need, not the school. Then why blaming the school?

Send by whom? By parents. It is parent's choice how to raise and to educate their child. Are you suggesting that we should take that right from the parent and give it to the government?

Now, why are you saying sadly? If you consider your friends unworthy, why are you sad to lose them?

No, it is not. She never ever made any comments about Trump's choices, as well as he never made any comments about Pences' choices. She chose what she believes is right, and Trump chose what he believes is right. I am sure neither of them will be interfering in each others decisions on how to live their lives.

Roosting chickens and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens more in the coming months.

I know it’s crazy right?

A CHRISTIAN woman teaches at a CHRISTIAN school teaches CHRISTIAN values and now everyone has lost their beans.

You don’t have to agree with what the school teaches, but this shouldn’t be this surprising to people.

Sure it is. She is working somewhere that her husband's boss would be banned from working at because of his amoral & immoral behavior. She chose to work somewhere like that. Doesn't matter what she doesn't say publicly about Trump's choices (we all know she dislikes him and was furious about the whole pussy-grabbing episode - it's out there, just google. She despises his immorality.) Meanwhile we know that Trump has made fun of his VP's holier-than-thou attitude.

It's still hilarious that she has chosen to work somewhere that rejects Trump's personal behavior as being unchristian. Face it - the president is someone that a school like that doesn't feel is a role model for its kids. He'd never be able to sign that statement to work there.

Who is surprised? People are pointing out that it doesn't mesh with their own Christian values and that it's not a very smart move for the wife of a politician with continued ambitions on the national level to be affiliated with an institution that practices/preaches such discrimination and rejects science.
