What are you talking about? None of the kids, LGBT or not, can enroll himself into the school. Parents have to enroll them. Prior to enrollment, parents and the kids, if they choose the same school where Pence is teaching, required to sign the contract that lists all the requirements. If the powerless LGBT kid don't agree with the school statement, no one going to force him to spend there even one day. Do you have an examples when LGBT kid were forced to go to Christian school? |
What THINGS? |
Mrs. Pence didn't sign the law. She signed the contract between herself personally and the private institution. What law are you talking about? |
And as I mentioned upthread, there are many different levels of religiosity w/in one religion. If your beliefs are literal, as in anchored to the bible, it is indeed against homosexuality (for men, that is): If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act. –Leviticus 20:13 New Testament? Romans 1:26-27 - Paul said, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.” So define Christian beliefs if the bible is the anchor text for today's Christians. |
This wasn’t a statement about Karen pence. This was in response to the person arguing about Christian beliefs being discriminated against or some such idiocy. |
You really want to start this again? We can go through all the Bible rules Christians who adamantly oppose homosexuality routinely ignore, starting with the one John talks about at 13:34. |
| She's fine with Trump and all of his sins, but LGBT? A bridge too far. |
Y'all only like the nice messages in the bible, but forget the ones about Jesus shooting swords out of his mouth as a warrior king. |
sure . . . John 13:34 New International Version 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. as long as you're not shtupping another dude Your example is bland, general "wisdom" anyone can find on a dish or porcelain doll from a Hallmark store. |
As a person with a trans sibling I can predict what a trans or gay child will do in this situation. The child probably will not tell anyone about his/her true feelings because they are afraid their family will reject them and their society (basically their school) will shun them. They’ve been taught it’s wrong and it’s a sin to be that way and “those” kind of people go to hell. So they won’t come out. They will repress it. And then they will be so miserable, hate life, very likely attempt suicide. But hey, no one was going to “force him to spend even one day there” so it’s no big deal. |
Those quotes are not from Jesus. Paul's words (not Christ's) are often wrathful and intolerant. |
In your scenario, what prevents that particular child to go to the all accepting public school? |
So, your sibling were attending one of these christian schools? There are no facts in your post, just guesses. |
The family? |
Just as God is when it comes to unrepentant sin. There are reasons why Christianity spread first among soldiers before becoming the state religion of Rome. |
