The stated suggestion? I'd assume the motion put forward by the School Board.

As for "Stuart High School"......the JEB would be dropped and, it would just be a name--which is all it really is in any case. It doesn't mean anything.
It would keep the alumni connected and help the school system save money. It would resolve a lot of confusion for graduates and please the taxpayers.

You do not have any idea how easy it is for administrative paperwork to get messed up, do you? Transcripts being requested and misdirected, etc. Schools names not matching, etc. Sent to wrong addresses. SAT scores, recommendations, verifications, transcripts, job applications, transfers, clearances, all sorts of things.

I've had problems with a typo in a name. Bureaucrats couldn't find it. This will be multiplied. But, that's okay. You and your kids are likely not affected.

Of all the reasons not to change the name, this is so hyperbolic. No Princeton for you, young "Stuart" graduate, because someone misfiled your transcript. What?!?

What happens in other places when old schools are torn down/closed, or when schools are rebuilt and given a new name? This would seem to happen on a fairly regular basis. This "concern" is just really over the top and disingenuous. We get it, you like the name. You don't like people "rewriting" YOUR history (which is a convenient fiction, BTW).

You will survive the change. Find something else to fret about. The Trump administration is providing all the fodder a neurotic such as yourself could need.

Neurotic? Neurotic is thinking that changing the name of the school is so important that you will spend millions of dollars on it. And, yes, that is where this is going. There are many more schools affected than most realize. If any name besides "Stuart" is chosen, that is the path this will take.

Rest assured, if it turns out to be anywhere near a million dollars to change the name, then having Stuart not be selected this time will ultimately turn out to be a win for you. No other school will be renamed by the school board because it will be deemed too costly, and they will have real numbers to show why renaming is a bad idea.

Keys-Gamarra is already on record as supporting name changes to Lee and Woodson. No, the Board will not want to do it because of the expenses--but the precedent will have been set.

FCPS staff has already shown documented expenses to be at least $650 K--and that is just the large, obvious expenses. It does not include all the extraneous things that have been forgotten. Nor, does it include the admin expenses.
And, this does not include the additional expenses to families.

And yes, I'm happy. Money well spent IMHO. For a system as large as FCPS, a few million dollars to indicate that we don't worship Confederate losers who fought to keep other humans enslaved is totally worth it.

Seriously? Sounds like you are not familiar with high school.

Clothing (spirit gear)
Booster clubs---lots of things will need replacing which are purchased with money from booster clubs. Stuart just purchased some items through boosters that were quite expensive. In fact, I think a lot of the turf was paid for by boosters. I understand FCPS is picking up the tab on that.
So, boosters will be hitting up the parents for more. And, some of the booster parents have indicated that, as hard as they have worked for the school, they are not willing to start over.
New booster clubs will have to be formed due to the change in name. Did you watch any of the SB meetings? This was presented. It is a legal issue, I think. Setting up things requires huge amounts of time on the part of parents and there are likely additional expenses with this. New items will have to be purchased, new logos (licensing, etc.) etc.etc.

If colors and logo change that will mean additional changes. New uniforms, costumes, etc. Decorations that are reused every year. Lots of things that you never considered.

And, once more, taxpayer money spent without improvement in learning.
