Here's another interesting fact about PH: The trailer park in the NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl is named "Pimmit Hills Trailer Park" after the neighborhood. The series creator, Greg Garcia, lived in Pimmit Hills for a time as a child.[6] |
This mean Franklin Park and Chain Bridge Forest as well as the gold coast heading over the quaint Chain Bridge have flow. Unless you enter an address you don't always know whih county you are in and the same is true for Great Falls v Mclean on huge amounts of territory [ie Georgetown Pike east of Old Dominion intersection], Old Domion/Towlston. Parts of Mclean are closer to Great Falls village than are parts of Great Fall down Leigh Mill and Towlston. |
LOL, PP. I remember that the show. Is the previous fact correct 1675 homes under 1200 sq ft. No wonder its constant teardowns in the neighborhood. I was considering rent my old colonial out in Arlington and buying new in PH. But I saw all the activity and send PH probably still has another 10 yrs of construction. BTW, I would love to buy in Great Falls now but commute into downtown would be soul crushing and detrimental to my health (less time for gym/walking to and from metro). |
+1. Lower McLean is pretty similar to North Arlington. I often can't tell the difference but for the street signs. I don't mind all the flow-through traffic though. |
Yes. |
And this is exactly why Upper McLean is so expensive. |
I love this Upper McLean/Lower McLean terminology. Never heard it before. Sort the haves and the have mores. |
You are really working this "Upper McLean" and "Lower McLean," but I don't think it's going to catch on. |
| So where is the divide for upper/lower McLean? |
+1. Lived here almost a decade and have never heard this. It just sounds like something some Langley parent would come up with now that McLean is ranked higher than Langley. |
Upper McLean would be Spring Hill, Church Hill, Chesterbrook and Sherman Pyramids Lower McLean would be Kent Gardens Pyramid If a new build is under 1.7 million it's in the poorer area (lower) McLean |
Someone is offering to build a new house on Lewinsville zoned for Spring Hill for $1.3 million. |
| The border between upper and lower has always been 123, but I often see people just refer to the McLean HS pyramid and Langley HS pyramid as proxies. |
+10000 There will always, always always be jockeying amongst McLean/Langley/Great Falls. You buy what you can afford. If you bought a long time ago, be grateful and shut it. |
I don't think the school boundaries are "proxies" for terms that aren't actually used by anyone other than one of two DCUM posters here. We could just as readily decide that, from this day forward, Great Falls will be called "the Badlands." |
