DC parents leave kids in car for wine tasting

Clearly they weren't...if the kids were asleep----one parent could have waited in the car and switched off. These people are idiots.

Ironically, we owned a rowhouse fairly close to them.

But---WTF does it matter how much $ they make???????????????????

No way in hell would I ever do what they did to go to a wine tasting/dinner event!! It is so unfathomable--rich or not rich. What kind of parent does this?

Does he have similar degrees to the dad in this case?

Graduate of a private well-renowned University. He works for himself. No PhD though.

Oh, it doesn't matter at all. I am just really nosy!

It only matters in that these people could afford to hire a special wine tasting nanny if they wanted!

Where can I see their mugshots online? I dated a Christophe a few times ages ago.

OK - what facts do we have? What time were they found? 5.30pm? Or 3.30pm?

At 3.30pm, maybe the 2 and 3 year old have extremely reliable naps (not mine - as soon as the car stops, they're awake). Maybe they thought they could get away with an hour because their kids would reliably sleep in their coats in the car (I am not justifying this at all, just trying to understand the parents' possible thoughts). But at 5.30pm, no 2 or 3 year old kid is going to be sleeping. So that's just weird. What time would this event have been on for? Is it a sit-down meal? Or stand around at a bar and try wines while having some nibbles? 3.30-5pm or something?

Any updates?

Looks like they thought they could use an iPhone with an open connection to the mom's phone as a means of monitoring the kids. Both kids in coats, but one screaming and crying when found by the police.

Anyone have a story to help restore my faith in humanity?

Yup. Supposedly they left an iPhone in the car and were monitoring them from the restaurant. Dad said he went inside for just a few minutes. Surveillance cameras show that no one approached the car for 58 minutes.

Idiots.

That article ... sooo busted.

At least the kids were not returned to these jerks.

WOW! Just wow.

He lied to the police, saying he only left the kids a few minutes... And how well did that open cell phone work, if the kid was screaming hysterically? Those poor kids - must have been terrifying to be alone and cold and strapped down.

Thank goodness for the guy who watched the car and called the police... Unlike the scary PP, I'm so glad there are people who care.

I had my car window punched out in NW for an iPhone on the seat. No kids though.

These a-holes leave their kids plus their phone??

I still don't understand why they drove... Unless the plan was always to leave them in the car...
