Bad News for Test Prep Parents

Anonymous

You know, I don't think this one poster has a reading comprehension problem. I think s/he understands very well what other posters are saying about why it is inappropriate to prep for these AAP identification tests. S/he doesn't want parents of young kids who will be taking these tests to read this information. S/he wants them to believe that prepping for these tests will make a huge difference in their children's lives. Why? Only s/he knows. Maybe s/he owns a test prep business or works for one, maybe s/he sells the materials, maybe s/he's just a nice person who likes to teach little ones sitting around the dining room table. Whatever the reason, it is better for her/him if parents believe in her/his prep, prep, prep refrain. That is why s/he continues to deliberately "misunderstand" posts, twist the words of other posters, and ridicule those who disagree with her/him. S/he feels threatened in some way by the information that other posters try to discuss in a mature way here.

That was before the Asian population explosion starting in the mid 90s. That has been the game changer. Dc's AAP classes have always been majority Asian (western part of the county) but now in middle school, a super majority. Not making judgments mind, just the way it is. Try telling them to stop prepping.

The Asians are following the Peyton and Phelps play book. Talent that maximises performance via longstanding preparation, discipline, and hard work. Our children look up to Peyton and Phelps (and Brady...). They have differentiated themselves from the crowd through talent, prepping and hard work. These are not lazy bums. The last time I checked a buccal smear Peyton and Phelps were not Asian. Why are Brady, Peyton and Manning so revered for discipline, hard work and longstanding preparation and stellar performances; but others with similar traits are not.

I suggest you look in the mirror and stop your childish jingoistic nonsense or shut down the County in protest.

The Peyton stuff just needs to stop. It is sooo creepy. Isn't there a fan site somewhere so the Peyton poster can discuss him all day with other fans?
The analogy of an adult man working on his athletic abilities is just nowhere near on point to young children prepping for AAP identification tests.

Its a dude with a mancrush on Peyton Manning and Michael Phelps. Clearly.

yes, isn't he/she awful?
But still, I don't see the big problem with prepping either if you want an "edge" for something desireable like getting into AAP. Isn't that what it's all about, getting an edge over other people?

And now Brady too?!?!
You (or your children) need some additional role models.

It has for Brady, Peyton and Phelps and the rising high performers of the 90s you allude to?

Hmm, I wonder who wrote that post to which you're "responding"?

It's creepy because the traits some abhor in Asians are precisely the drivers in the outstanding performances of people your children worship in Brady, Phelps, and Peyton. These guys are talented, driven, hard workers, tireless preppers and high performers.

Good ahead and squirm. It will do your conscious some good

Have you visitied your childrens' bedroom lately and seen the posters on the wall? They are the ones wearing the Jerseys you buy extolling their virtues?

Peyton and Phelps did not get where they are today because of luck, boredom, and poor work habits .... the one thing they all have in common is a passion and drive for preparation, hard work and discipline. If this is good for Peyton and Phelps why is it not good for students?

The analogy is perfect.

Keep it up poster with the crush. Your adversaries are squeaming so uncomfortably they have lost sphincter control.

Dude, just stop. Everyone knows that hard work maximizes performance.
Everyone wants their kid to maximize their potential, as long as they can keep a good balance in their life and live happy.

But you can't keep harping on the same thing over and over and over. You lose your message. All people remember you for is being "that crazy guy infatuated with Peyton". I suppose if that's what you want people to remember, then fine. But you really are spamming the forums, which is annoying.

There are plenty of examples of things all over the place if you look:
Examples of lazy-ass bums who have achieved: Albert Haynesworth, Shaq, John McEnroe (All did not maximize their potential and left a lot on the table).
Examples of overacheivers who aren't/weren't world-class: Rudy Ruettiger, Jim Haslett (at work at 5am everyday for the garbage they put on the field!).

I'm wondering why you keep referring to "our children" worshipping these athletes. I don't think my kids give any of them a second thought. Are you perhaps Asian and assuming that the rest of us are white, stupid, and shallow enough to worship only athletes? My kids role models are not athletes. At any rate, you have so twisted this entire thread by your trolling that I can't imagine why your posts haven't been removed yet.

You know ppl were madly infatuated with Lance Armstrong and held him up as a virtue of perseverance.

"I'm on my Bike." Ha.

Not everything is as black and white as you make it seem. If EPO is good enough for Lance, why is it not good for students?
If brain damage is good enough for Dave Duerson, why not for some High Schooler?

Shaun White smokes pot while winning gold medals...
Hey... If pot is good for Shaun White... why is not not good for students!!!

Phelps, Peyton and Brady are overachievers; but they work supremely harder most achievers at their tasks. And we can pronounce their names
