The end of the IQ test and screening tests for AAP. It appears some have caught on to the political tactics of those who have used these inventions and concepts like IQ and race for self-serving social engineering. --signed Marsahall (8-year-old son of Peyton Manning) Take advantage of the information age with hard work and preparation. Information is all around us and everywhere. Ignore all the budding DCUM communists who wish to sanitize FCPS by ridding our communities of information and dictating what information is acceptable. In the 17th and 18th century they were successful at this. Virginians even prosecuted and killed Americans for reading, writing and attending schools. The information age is now equalizing the playing field and these pathetic slugs don't like it. |
| Thanks, now we are back on track. |

No. I have been a member of our society and know how things work. Going to MIT out of HS is fine, but not every one can do it (not enough slots). In America, we do not care about where you start, but rather, where you end. You can force your kid to study in ES, HS. But at MIT, guess what, they are on there own. They have to want to excel. I have seen many children of Tiger Moms like you fail in college. FWIW, my story: undiagnosed problems in ES, MS, HS (Dyslexia). I learned how to compensate. Late in HS, started doing well (senior year). Went to a lower-tier college for one year, got a 3.8, transferred to VA Tech, graduated, went on to get an MA and PhD. Never been unemployed. And I am internationally recognized in my field. My 2.4 in HS does not matter any more. Overtaken By Events (OBE). The leader of our country was poor growing up. He was more of a pot-head in HS, did not get into a top college....did not know his identity. He discovered it along the way....went to Harvard for Law School, and excelled. You might not like his politics, but he is self made. |
The recent government shut down, issues with immigration and our Kenyan President, was a stark reminder America ( the former old Americans) really doesn't care "where you start, but rather where you end?" There only care about where you came from. If it's not where you came from than some Americans are really not Americans. At least read and understand American history (if its your history) before making your politically correct sound bites. Congressman Ted Cruz, born in Canada of a Cuban father is more American than your President born in Hawaii of American mother. The birthers have not questioned his origins yet they question the origins [nor that of Romney who didn't pay US taxes until recently] of the President of America. Can't you see this hypocrisy at the highest levels of American society. At the end of the day, its about the entitlement of the former many that has become today the fewer and the few.[i] I have been a member of our society for 8 generationsand I know how things work. |

The leader of our Country of America went to one of highest endowed and prestigious prep schools in the land and then went to one of the top IVY institutions in the land capping it off at Harvard Law School, the Senate, the Presidency and the Nobel Peace Prize. But, I live in a country where a pack of heathen fools with no intelligence have the average Virginian believe Congressman Ted Cruz ( born in Canada of a Cuban father, who brought USA to a stand still because he did not like a law passed under the leadership of our current President) is more American? Please go back to the where you came from you are certainly not an American. |
| At the end of the day, the angst over AAP, is all about the haves trying to preserve the old status quo vis a vis the have nots--even when they don't measure up to the standards they established in the very first place. Most, here ,are too cowardly to acknowledge this. The red herings, distractions, and scramble to change the AAP rules will not change the inevitable. It's too late. The digital and information age is equalizing the playing field and taking away some of their long held advantages. |
Interesting article. IQ doesn't predict success or even academic achievement. IQ is simply that which is measured on an IQ test. Beyond that, in the real world, it means squat. So why FCPS places any value in the WISC is dubious. The GBRS is a much better indicator of academic success. |
I read the article. I'm screwed. I have the working memory of a 10 year old. So I think this "working memory" crap is all a bunch of nonsense too.

Simply a tool used by the establishment to maintain the preferred wedge between the haves and have nots. Just like "race" and elaborate distinctions made by shades of of skin color and not science. This is what this discussion boils down to. This is what the government shut down is all about and this is the 47% American divide leaked out of the echo chamber in the Mitt Romney club house. |

| Sounds like trickle down angst from the seat of power all the way to AAP. |
| At least -- in keeping with Reaganomic theory. |
If working memory is so important, at least you can prep for that.
