People never f?ing grow up in this f?ing country. They are in a state of arrested development. To broadly use the words of the most awesome comedy show ever made in the USA and then unfortunately cancelled for that same reason, arrested development and inability to get over yourself and stupid hang ups.

I lived in Europe (Switzerland) and was horrified by the daily racism. I guess because I'm a WASP, Europeans felt free to share their attitudes towards minorities with me.

And if you want to talk about snobbery, go to Britain for class snobbery, France for cultural snobbery.... Need I go on? I have lots of relatives still in Europe and I know of what I speak. You sound like an a$$ for pretending none of this exists chez toi.

And I'd be absolutely terrified to send my kids to HS in Britain where they'd be exposed to the chav drinking culture.

Go home, European troll!

HS Chav drinking culture as opposed to ughhh, the superb hypocrisy of a country that allows you to drive at 16, buy guns, vote, go to war at 18, but does not allow you to drink until 21??? At least there is no pretense there and if you find people who are genuinely accepting of other races/nationalities, they will be for real, not forced by laws hypocrites.

I think I will take England, France, or Switzerland, and the rest if I could. It is good to know who your friends truly are!! Plus I don't care for small talk...

And Virginia's taxes help care for its inbreds.

Actually the illegals, which you libs are ok with

Actually our taxes pay for all the wear and tear VA commuters bring to our city since we cant charge a commuter tax. As for these expensive. "Illegals" they are pretty much doing all the work citizens wont do. But that is another thread. Your comment encapsulates why we are reticent to schedule playdates with VA families.

If the citizens weren't getting easy handouts, they'd do the work.

OP: To VA for lots of outdoor space and to DC for the schools like I had in Massachusetts. What answers are there that I will find?

But this is exactly the point. Why do you need "lots of space," outdoors or not? How many people live at your house... 20? Or is it that you need room for all of your "toys" -- your pool, your media room, your tacky furniture, your cars. THIS is what DC people turn up their noses at.

Because we think it is good for kids to have lots of space outdoors to run and play that is just outside our house And we don't like to be squashed like sardines in an old, tiny 3 bedroom colonial in which the third bedroom is really the size of a coat closet.

You don't care for these things? Great. Different strokes, and all that. But maligning all people who live in Va is a little weird.

There are tons of big houses with lots of space in DC. You probably can't afford it. That's why you have this inferiority complex. I mean after all you started this thread. Sorry but you and your kids will always be considered as va carpet baggers. Yes even parents act like we're in high school.

OP, if you are even still here, ignore most of the previous posters. Native Washingtonian here. Not long ago, we lived in CCMD for a few years. Now we live in the type of house and neighborhood in NW that most posters on DCUM drool over.
I CAN NOT WAIT until DD graduates high school and we can move to Virginia. Our younger child will be at a good age to transfer schools then. My preference is the Middleburg area or heading down towards Richmond. We will have more space. land and horses. Can't wait!

You have to remember that many of the posters on DCUM aren't native to this area. They are so enamored with themselves and the idea that they live in the "District." Whatever, been there, done that. It wasn't too long ago that Washington was considered a sleepy backwater and average kids could get into any of the so-called "Big 3."

There is nothing wrong with NOVA. People who look down upon others based upon where they live speak volumes about themselves (not about you) and none of it is flattering!

Thanks but I probably worded my post too strongly. The sort of the nonsense I saw on this thread drives me nuts. Washington is just a place like any other. Whether one lives here or not is no measure of one's worth.
I have suspected for a while that many DCUM posters are immature 20 and 30-somethings. They are obsessed with image and where they live but very quick to throw the "social climber" labels at others. I try to keep my visits here to a minimum. Bad for the blood pressure.

Sour grapes. You couldn't cut it, so run for the hills.

And BTW- I have no problem with NOVA, and in fact, partly agree with you, but your post is annoying, so felt the need to respond.

Huh? Cut what? As I said, I still live here. Born in Georgetown Hospital and raised in Georgetown. Lived here my whole life. Where are the sour grapes? I simply said I was ready for a change and will probably head to Virginia in a few years. I imagine that DH will insist on keeping a small place in town.

Oh PP. you crack me up. You are the elitist G'Town snob that wants to act as if you are above it all. You do that, grab your place in Virginia, and keep your small place in Georgetown. Yes, we all now know that you are that special and thank you for appreciating Virginia. Idiot!

PP here, this is just getting silly. I said I was raised in Georgetown but no, that is not my current neighborhood. No, we would not have a small place in Georgetown. Overpriced and no metro access. Defeats the whole purpose. If you are the the pp throwing around the sour grapes charges, I suggest you look in the mirror. Oy vey! Calm down.

Oh, so you were raised in Georgetown. Sorry. Misunderstood! Glad to know you are just trying to keep your facts straight! i guess the little place your DH wants to hold onto is Logan Circle. That way you can profess you are above it all! Georgetown be damned!

Sometimes people you refer to as "above it all" are just plain nice. I know, a rarity on DCUM, so you probably have trouble recognizing it.
