It seems that every time Ms. Perez was called into the principal's office for some misdeed, she tried to muddy the waters with a year old story that had very little substantiation. There is no evidence besides Ms. Perez's allegations that any of this happened. Even the letter from the former student is suspect, because it could have been written under duress or not even written by the student in question.

I am pro-choice, but am horrified by this story. I am glad the teacher was persistent. It shows cultural/political/ideological supremacy thinking-the social worker assumed she was superior to the child's guardian when it came to dealing with the situation at hand. DP. Nomani identifies stories that no one else would touch these days. Obviously the Washington Post's coverage of local affairs is a joke these days, and even when the Post makes even a half-hearted effort to cover local stories they just end up being an FCPS mouthpiece.

She's not interested in the truth or uncovering all the facts. She is only interested in shaming FCPS and getting more facetime on Fox News. It's hard to say whether she's just a publicity seeker or whether her particular hatred of FCPS is based on FCPS changing the admissions policy at TJ. She is the single mother of a TJ graduate (who went on to attend a college that a good chunk of Lewis could get into) who treated her kid's admission to TJ as validation of her parenting. When they changed the admissions policy, she went mental.

But, again, she serves a useful purpose, even if it's ultimately going to be left to others to get to the bottom of a story and present the facts fairly. In this case, it's unclear whether Perez had her own issues with FCPS, or instead was retaliated against for whistleblowing. FCPS isn't well run and retaliation against those who bring up things that might embarrass FCPS certainly seems possible. And it definitely appears that Reid and FCPS lied - yet again - when they suggested they first learned of the allegations that an FCPS staff member had facilitated a minor's abortion a few weeks ago. At some point Michelle Reid's dishonestly (or is it simply glaring incompetence) is going to catch up with her.
