Did Trump's cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service impact predicting the flash floods in central Texas?

We got this. We're going to make sure that we go score again, that we're going to win this game. The way winners talk is not to point fingers. They talk about solutions. What Texas is all about is solutions.” — Governor Hot Wheels parked in Hunt, TX July 8, 2025

Just a load of bs. If Texas were about solutions, they would already ha e a flood warning system, using some of the billions of dollars of state surplus.

Investing in common sense public safety infrastructure is woke communist nanny state wasting of taxpayer dollars.

Yes, what you do is not pay for it and then ask for federal funds when the problem hits the fan, so that other people pay for it for you.

how about this? the persistent under- and defunding of local and state government in Texas contributed to a weakened infrastructure with no one at the local level cognizant that the camp did not have reliable WiFi service and needed to be contacted by a landline. thoughts?

My thoughts are, as I said before: I am tired of this tragedy being used for political reasons. It won't turn me red or anything obviously, but you guys need to get a grip because you are not helping the cause.

People here are mostly deaf, unless you parrot their propaganda. Sad.

Get ready for a lot more of these disasters twining out from DOGE and Trump's wrecking ball to the federal government. That doesn't mean I'm gleeful, or that I don't find the tragedy horrifying, or that I wish for it to happen. I'm just realistic about what is driving this. If you care, you should be, too -- it's the only way to fix it.

Elections have consequences.

Remember the wind turbines freezing in Texas, because they cheaped out on getting them prepared for cold weather? Like they do in Finland, which sees a helluva lot more snow and ice than Texas?

The Blame Game:

U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Houston, tweet: “When weather conditions get bad as they did this week, intermittent renewable energy like wind isn’t there when you need it.”

Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, Facebook: "Facebook: “We should never build another wind turbine in Texas. ... Insult added to injury: Those ugly wind turbines out there are among the main reasons we are experiencing electricity blackouts,” he wrote. “Isn’t that ironic? ... So much for the unsightly and unproductive, energy-robbing Obama Monuments. At least they show us where idiots live.”

And the lovely Greg Abbott: Gov. Greg Abbott and other Republicans blamed green energy for Texas’ power woes.

---

Sounds like they just wanted to use it as an excuse to reject green energy and please their oil buddies. And how many right wing MAGAs parrot they after receiving their FOX talking points.,

Trump withheld funds from California this winter for fire recovery.
The GOP castigated FEMA and Biden during hurricane relief efforts to the extent that FEMA workers going door to door to help were being shot at.
Trump decimated NOAA and the National Weather Service and now our domestic safety is at risk.

But sure, lets talk about how the Dems are politicizing things.

MAGA’s just responding like a cult. Not even a little confused. They know what to say. The programming has been quite effective.

Good luck hiring people after they’ve spent months making federal employees miserable and threatening them
