If you are MAGA, do you have contempt for empathy?

I don’t get why republicans think anyone would make up global warming. Why would anyone do that? What’s in it for anyone?

MAGA are the modern day Spanish Inquisition.

Lots of current "MAGA" voters were 2008 and 2012 Obama voters. Did the GOP all of a sudden brainwash them into believing in boogeymen or did Biden and Democrats just f up?

Actually data shows very few people flipped.
Many people just didn’t vote

I'm just saying you can be 100% for being nice about 100% of everything. I

My biggest detest for GOP is policy v anyone who isn't a white man. But other than that, I can appreciate their perspectives while disagreeing with some of their platforms. I don't automatically label them as monsters for example as the OP has done by suggesting everyone not liberal and Dem has zero empathy.

If the op has no point this thread wouldn’t be so long

“Three-quarters of Republicans who still believe former President Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2020 "somewhat agree" or "strongly agree" that Democrats are "downright evil." Only 27% of Republicans who think President Joe Biden won in 2020 agree with the sentiment. Meanwhile, less than half of Democrats consider Republicans evil.”

Income redistribution. The transfer of money from one group to another using global warming as a mandate.

Omg you are nuts.

There's no conspiracy by elites. Do you know how much Gates has spent on malaria to help drive population growth? Both of them. Bezos' wife who has donated to nonprofits?

Do you know how much Soros has done in the name of helping causes that essentially help save population?

Omg then there is nutjob Musk who is vocal about how we need 10000 more people on earth!

They want power. You can't get it unless people give it to you. Who are they going to be powerful over otherwise? These people can live through literally the earth being dead. Their resources are plentiful.

What is going on is that nobody wants to give up their conveniences and luxuries and green energy really can't take off as a result for enough if the population anywhere to impact. I'm not talking elites but the rich sports and movie stars. The well to do multi millionaires. The average person who is retired and can travel most of the year.

So we have this prob where we have a lot of people needing resources to live on this planet. Not sure how the planet will fare but I'm suggesting the people will prob win. But in doing so we will likely need to kill the planet. There really is only 2 choices and that may be dark but it's true.

Op- to answer your question, most people are selfish and align with group think. There is a small % who are empaths and maintain independent thought.

Because the republicans and Fox have been droning on about it for years and they are programmed. They also care only about themselves and their needs so it's a self serving message.

Maybe all Magas - Trump voters - are not all the same, just as all Democratic voters - liberals - are not all the same.

The first time he ran that was true....this time we know who he is and the ugliness and hatred that comes with this party. If you voted Trump you are absolutely aligning with MAGA. Enjoy all that comes to you.

Trump is a monster, and if you don't care that he abruptly took away food and medical care from starving people in war zones, you are too.

Even with Mr. Rubio’s announcements that lifesaving efforts could resume, much of the American aid system in Africa remained paralyzed by the confusion and disruptions, including in conflict-hit areas where every day counts.

“When they issue these broad orders, they don’t seem to understand what exactly they are turning off,” said Jeremy Konyndyk, a former senior U.S.A.I.D. official under the Biden administration who is now the president of Refugees International. “They’re pulling levers without knowing what’s on the other end.”

..
Saw Tha Ker, the camp leader for the Mae La camp, said he was told on Friday by the International Rescue Committee, a group that receives U.S. funding, that it would stop supporting medical care, water and waste management for all of the seven refugee hospitals managed by his camp.

“The first thought that came to my mind was that whoever made this decision has no compassion at all,” said Mr. Tha Ker.

Mr. Tha Ker said he and his staff had to tell 60 patients in one hospital that they had to go home. Videos posted on social media showed men carrying patients on makeshift stretchers through unpaved streets.

Well if we're gonna live we gotta eat and have fun doing it is how human nature is. So do the math. Billions of people or untouched land. Exhibit A is the oil industry. No way we aren't going without it. Again, great to pat yourself on the back about being an environmentalist until you have to weigh that against being humanistic. It's a dilemma we have and I don't know if we'll ever figure it out but I suspect the world may have to "end" a few times before we do.

For example, I’m empathetic towards all the kids in the classes who go to school every day trying to learn, but can’t, because there are kids screaming and throwing objects and there are a bunch of illegal immigrants there who don’t even speak English. I also have a lot of empathy for those teachers.

I’m very empathetic towards victims of crime. It disgusts me that we as a society have apparently (at least in previous administrations) just accepted that some people will have their lives destroyed or stolen while we give multiple chances to monsters.

I’m empathetic towards the people trying to drive somewhere important but they can’t because liberal geniuses are standing or laying on the road blocking their way to try to prove some political point.

I could go on and on, but the difference between us is not a difference in level of empathy. I just combine my empathy with logic.

You should turn off right-wing propaganda and visit the real world some day. You have been conned.

They haven't been conned, they are saying exactly what they mean. Your ears just aren't tuned to their dog whistles. I'll translate for you:

"I’m empathetic towards all the [white] kids in the classes who go to school every day trying to learn, but can’t, because there are [black] kids screaming and throwing objects and there are a bunch of illegal immigrants there who don’t even speak English. I also have a lot of empathy for those teachers. [as long as they are in an affluent white school district and my thoughts and prayers are all that are required because I sure as hell won't be voting to pay them better or properly fund the schools they work for.]"

"I’m very empathetic towards [white] victims of crime. [whose lives I have no problem destroying over any offense no matter how small or if they even were the ones who committed it and weren't simply the wrong color in the wrong place at the wrong time.]

"I’m empathetic towards the people trying to drive somewhere important but they can’t because liberal geniuses are standing or laying on the road blocking their way to try to prove some political point." [Also I want it to be legal for people to run them over but I'm too much of a coward to say it outright. I definitely get a chub when I read about someone doing it though.]

"I could go on and on, but the difference between us is not a difference in level of empathy. I just combine my empathy with logic. [And by "logic" I actually mean hatred and racism.]

You've been well-programmed going through life with a chip on your shoulder. No one can do anything about that except you.

Inferring extra content into what has not been said is a problem for you to solve.

You can play coy and "who, me?!" all you want, we know what you really mean. Your language might be coded but your actions are out there for the world to see and they're damning. Barely covered scum is scum regardless.

I haven't read this thread. But I'll answer the question. I am very empathetic. But I disagree about who deserves empathy. For example, I emphasize with victims of crime more than the people who committed those crimes. Its not that I don't empathize that criminals may have endured tough circumstances. It's that I think it's bad for society to send the message that it's okay to commit crimes as long as you have been a victim as well. That becomes a justification for any crime, and that's bad for society. It's good for society for laws to be enforced and for people to be held accountable for their crimes.

This is another place where I think it's about who deserves empathy. American citizens are struggling. It's not clear to me why my local mechanic has a lifelong obligation to send money to the people of Sudan, simply because he's American. We've sent a ton of money to these countries over the years, and nothing changes. They don't improve. Maybe our money isn't the answer for them. But, it is often the answer for the working households earning the money.
