I am talking to a lot of Democrats who want Trump to succeed.

I’m disappointed.
It seems like Trump is already walking back all of his promises.
He’s not actually going to deport illegals.
He’s not going to lower grocery prices.
He isn’t even going to pardon all the J6 patriots.

If you look at the past 15 years, the middle class has not recovered from the Great Recession. Democrats have held the presidency most of that time. I love my country and my family is doing well with double the median area HHI, but I honestly don't know how the majority of people get by.

And who controlled Congress? When did the Democrats have a filibuster proof majority to get anything meaningful done? Oh, and when did the GOP ever negotiate in good faith during that time? I'll wait...

I mean yeah, I'm not thrilled with the GOP at all. I despise Mitch McConnell. But this is the system we have, and Democrats haven't been able to meaningfully improve the lives of middle class people within the current system.

I voted for Harris and was devastated when she lost. That doesn't mean I want Trump to fail the middle class. I hope he can help them.

Everyone hopes that the people elected and appointed to office can help the American people. The problem is reality. When you have a liar and conman coming in as President and a bunch of sycophants in Congress who have repeatedly proven an inability to govern folks don’t believe things will get better and in fact suspect they will get worse. Trump has not once proved he cares about the American people and particularly not about any who are suffering. This is about him. His ego, his finances, his ability to stay out of jail.

I definitely don't think he cares about the American people. But do you think Democratic leaders care that much? How many of them are more concerned with furthering their political ambitions?

You are surprised a known serial liar lied? You're surprised a nepo baby billionaire who has never cared about anyone but himself doesn't care about his constituents or campaign promises?

"Don't call us morons, that's why we voted for Trump!" Scream morons who can't stop doing moronic things.

Democrats pass bills that turn into laws that help the American public. That is a fact. Just look at the laws passed under Biden's first two years before the GOP took the House and brought everything to a halt.

So here is how this shakes out:
MAGA voters
A) will never hear about the facts of Trump’s second term from their hermetically sealed
Conservative echo chamber. Fox News never covers it and in fact, Fox News will never mention immigration at all, and all of the Maga voters will believe it’s been solved.
B) the republicans will continue to malign the very institutions they now control as wasteful, dysfunctional, and corrupt. They will continue to be nihilistic turds for ( in most cases ) political gain and in other cases for ideological zealotry. And MAGA voters will continue to slide further down the toilet away from a belief in democracy. There is no expertise or competence. We as a country can’t conceive of doing big things. American exceptionalism is dead. And they will keep voting officials that tell them that. And then proving it. Rinse repeat.
C) we become a fully pay to play kleptocracy. And the masses buy Trump perfume and never notice the they got nothing.

Happy Holidays!

Sadly this is very likely what will happen.

Nice job, idiots.

While the democrats often miss the mark, they are the only ones that actually TRY to address the issues facing the middle and working classes. What bill has the GOP put forward that isn’t primarily designed to help the wealthy with a few coins tossed to those below?

It's really quite shocking. Who could have known he's such a liar?

None of this is surprising, there are many more promises that will be fulfiled as long as he isn't filibustered.

Like what?
He’s now waffling on stopping support for Ukraine.
What are we getting here?
So far he only seems focused on revenge.
That doesn’t help the people.

Luigi Mangione is American citizen and he killed Sullivan
in cold blood. The two supposed assassination attempts on Trump were Americans citizens. I bet there are more American thieves, murderers and drug addicts than illegal immigrants who simply want a better life and whose work ethic is a hell of a lot better than US citizens.

When you are paying $5.00 for one apple then your teeny tiny little mind might understand that illegal immigrants kept the food supply going.

If by virtue of being illegal immigrants, they have a better work ethic, it's due to their vulnerability to be exploited for cheap labor. You can't really compare work ethic between an American citizen with legal rights to an illegal immigrant.

I think one of the reasons that the left is so out of touch is that they use a framework of the right that existed 10 years ago. Their insistence that Fox News is the main source of information is a great example of this. Republicans left cable News behind a long time ago. So much, that if you answer that you get your News from cable, pollsters immediately identify you as being on the left.

The person here saying they are upset that Trump won't deport people, etc isn't on the right. I'm on the right, and I had never even HEARD the claim that Trump would free J6 prisoners until AFTER the election, when a Democratic relative brought it up. It wasn't a campaign promise. It was words that were, per usual, taken out of context and bandied about in the leftosphere to scare people. That person is most definitely a troll because no one on the right is really tracking this. And it would be a controversial point, because they shouldn't be given carte blanch pardons.

Similar for the border. The left breathlessly told everyone that Trump would not only deport illegals, but also all black people. I mean, what the...? That's just crazy. He only promised to aggressively attempt to remove illegals, starting with the most dangerous ones (violent criminals).

The economy? Yeah, that remains to be seen.

But he is going to lower the price of eggs before being sworn in. Egg salad poster will be happy.
