I'm a Democrat who despises Trump, but I hope I am wrong and he can make things better. I don't actually think I am wrong, but I want to be. If you look at the past 15 years, the middle class has not recovered from the Great Recession. Democrats have held the presidency most of that time. I love my country and my family is doing well with double the median area HHI, but I honestly don't know how the majority of people get by.
And who controlled Congress? When did the Democrats have a filibuster proof majority to get anything meaningful done? Oh, and when did the GOP ever negotiate in good faith during that time? I'll wait...
I mean yeah, I'm not thrilled with the GOP at all. I despise Mitch McConnell. But this is the system we have, and Democrats haven't been able to meaningfully improve the lives of middle class people within the current system. I voted for Harris and was devastated when she lost. That doesn't mean I want Trump to fail the middle class. I hope he can help them.
Everyone hopes that the people elected and appointed to office can help the American people. The problem is reality. When you have a liar and conman coming in as President and a bunch of sycophants in Congress who have repeatedly proven an inability to govern folks don’t believe things will get better and in fact suspect they will get worse. Trump has not once proved he cares about the American people and particularly not about any who are suffering. This is about him. His ego, his finances, his ability to stay out of jail.
I definitely don't think he cares about the American people. But do you think Democratic leaders care that much? How many of them are more concerned with furthering their political ambitions?
While the democrats often miss the mark, they are the only ones that actually TRY to address the issues facing the middle and working classes. What bill has the GOP put forward that isn’t primarily designed to help the wealthy with a few coins tossed to those below?
