I mean it sounds like the tax-supported spending on the swim center is really minimal and must be a tiny fraction of any given resident's city taxes but maybe I am wrong.
We don't like the service though. The teams are dominated by non-resident elite freeloaders and the pools are like swimming in snot during the winter. If MOCO can shut down KSAC why can't we shutdown RSFC? Mary Antoinette: "Let them swim at Olney".
In general, we need more pools in Montgomery County. County high school swim teams practice at 5:30 am because of pool space shortages. The county's adult swim team has practices at 8:30 pm for the same reason. Instead of fighting for space, why not advocate for more? In a county that's home to so many swimming Olympians, more pools, lanes, and swimming opportunities at all levels (from beginner-level children and adults to elite level children and adults) would be a worthy investment, and it would have public health benefits too. We could also use our space more wisely by grouping swimmers of compatible speeds together and teaching/promoting basic lane etiquette.
