Um, no. DP |
NP. Name one FCPS HS that doesn’t have MS-13. |
While I have no doubt there is an MS-13 presence within several FCPS high schools, I am certain they’re not in the majority of schools. Why don’t you provide proof of which schools you claim they’re in? |
http://m.connectionnewspapers.com/news/2004/nov/17/gangs-do-exist-in-fairfax-county-police-say/ From as far back as 2004 … “There is at least one gang member in every school in Fairfax County, police officers told a stunned audience in Great Falls Tuesday night. Students are often exposed to gang members by the time they reach middle school, making elementary schools the optimum time to teach children that joining a gang is not a good idea.” |
Also, this story illustrates how wide a clique’s network can be:
https://annandaletoday.com/falls-church-hs-student-murdered-by-ms/ The leader in this case lives in Landover. |
Again I ask what schools supposedly do not have MS-13 presence? |
Anything more recent than 2004? ![]() |
I don’t know about MS-13, but in my day my school had socs and greasers. You wouldn’t believe the rumbles they got into. My friend Ponyboy was almost drowned on a fountain. |
Back in 2004 there was more transparency and officials were blunt to put it mildly. It was a different era in public education, and society in general. I don’t think parents will get the straight talk in this day and age. |
Ha! You think the numbers have gone down? You’re lucky if you get someone to admit a child was raped in school let alone whether there are gang members attending them. |
Agreed. At best you’ll hear there is a fentyl problem in FCPS schools be they won’t give you an estimate of how rampant the problem is at schools. But we know it is a problem at every school from the high FARMS schools to the ones with the fast BMW driving students. |
You’re dating yourself. And that new article is far more recent than Boomer Ponyboy. |
It’s crazy to post a quote from 20 years ago! Fairfax County did a lot of work to address gang problems back then. I am sure it’s better now than it was then. |
I think a better question would be, what schools DO have a MS-13 presence? Please post your evidence. |
OK. Proof that it went down? Or is that just a feeling too? Do you think there are more or less gang issues in the county than in 2004? That number will be commiserate with what we see in schools. The gang prevention unit started in 1997. https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/Chief/CrimeandSafety/CrimePreventionAwareness/YouthGangs How have the SROs been doing at FCPS? |
