Montgomery- 5 more days and masks off.

It’s puzzling to put the CDC on a pedestal one day when they recommend indoor masking for everyone and then shun the CDC next day when they limit indoor masking for only the unvaccinated.

One should also decide whether it’s safe to wear masks indoors or not. It’s puzzling that a vast majority wear masks roaming through grocery stores and yet restaurants are packed with unmasked customers in close proximity for 2-hour indoor meals. I was especially surprised last year when City Center DC had an outdoor masking policy while permitting unmasked outdoor restaurant meals at the same time.

They have never been consistent nor forthcoming.

I'm seeing this on social media because the MoCo dashboard apparently has it.
But the CDC numbers in other places for MoCo seem diffrent (lower).
Can anyone comment on this?

I was in the library today. A sign read "masks strongly encouraged". There were 2 moms with a total of 6 kids ranging from infant to maybe 5 year olds. None in this group wore a mask. At least 3 of the kids were coughing. One of them looked and sounded quite ill. I took my vaccinated, masked self right on out of there.

Yes, I pulled the data from here https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/data/

That’s how it was last time. People are afraid to be the first ones and so they’ll wait to see what others are doing. Then they’ll follow suit.

Seems ridiculous. There is a no mask policy in most parts of the country, and there are no more cases/deaths there than other areas with a mask policy.

I have been looking at the Maryland Vaccine Hunters Facebook page every morning to see the numbers they report. Those numbers have been accurate CDC numbers for the whole state, supposedly. It was under 50 when I looked this morning, as it has been all week.

The CDC data lag the state by a couple of days, longer over weekends. The county lifted the mandate based on state reporting. It should reinstate it on the same basis.

Yep. This is why I quit my library job and won't go back. whether there is a county mandate or not, now is.nit the time for most people to give up masks. Even pre Covid there were an enormous number of people in this area going places sick or dragging along sick kids. The stupid, it hurts.

But, actually, there are. Even next door in Frederick, the transmission rate was High last week. No masks anywhere. It's just that many people have stopped caring because they can't tolerate a small piece of cloth or paper.

MCPS will continue with masking and I am very pleased. We do not want schools to be remote again. Our kids are ok with masking and everyone is safe.

I have no problems with masking, getting vaxxed and getting booster shots. I want to be unmasked with my family and close friends and I want to not stop the return to normalcy that masking has afforded us.

They can tolerate it. They are selfish.

I’m so glad my kids are still remote given peoples behavior and being unwilling to be part of the solution.

Either that, or real people in the real world don't necessarily share DCUM posters' desperate urgency of tearing their masks off.

It’s been obvious all along that most people care more about optics than science or reason. That’s fine and I’m glad they can cling to their masks.

Right, it's virtue signaling about which side you are on. Both masks on and masks off.

50 points for using a fear based political buzz word or phrase! 🤣
