And showing America that Joe Manchin IS NOT operating in good faith. |
He has value because he is giving them the Senate Majority, power over the legislative book once more, and all the judicial appointees they want to hold up. As long as he stays with them, they retain that power until they can flip the Senate/House in 2022. |
Those of us in the middle class just want our kids in school a full normal school year, and to be able to afford the things we could afford in 2019. |
I can’t stand Sanders and his posturing, but good for him on this one. Manchin totally took for granted that Sanders would have his back even after he made it abundantly clear he will never go anything for Sanders. So Sanders put him in his place. |
I bet your tone will change if it escalates and Manchin decides to switch parties. Then its 'How could Manchin abandon us and our judicial appointees at such a crucial time?' Don't antagonize the man. Don't hold up his committee appointees. Don't put letters to his constituents in West Virginia papers. You're just asking for trouble. |
You assume we trust Manchin to cooperate on judicial nominees. We don’t. He has shown himself to be nothing but a Republican pawn, and I don’t trust him in the slightest not to sell out his party on judicial nominees. |
Biden has flipped the 2nd and 10th circuits thanks to his Senate Democrat majority. Trust doesn't matter when it comes to judicial nominees. He is now on track to flip the 3rd in 2022 but only if the Democrats keep the Senate majority. |
Nah, he won’t switch. Manchin is gunning for the Dem presidential nomination in 2024. 2018 was too close a race for him, his odds of getting re-elected to the senate in 2024 aren’t good. If he switches parties he instantly becomes a nobody and Manchin isn’t going to tolerate that (plus he still loses in 2024 running for senate as a Republican as pp explained). He’s trying to set himself up as the moderate Dem foil to the progressive wing for a presidential run, because otherwise he has no where else to go politically. |
Are you drunk? Manchin has no interest in the presidency. Much less as a Democrat. Especially with West Virginia as his base. |
