22033 is Fairfax/Navy. That one road that is split between Lee's Corner and Crossfield also has 22033--but there are not that many homes there to contribute that many signatures, I don't think. Navy friends may be helping with the petition.
20191 is Reston. Fox Mill Woods. But, they are not at Oakton.

The real question is: where do the other 20% of signatures come from? That may be Grandma and Grandpa.

20191 may be at SL, but they would be impacted by a move to Western too.

The point is that Fox Mill families are signing the petition because they'd rather be at Western. Navy families are signing because they see the writing on the wall. If Oakton goes significantly over capacity, they're next in line to get kicked out.

Fox Mill Woods is not Fox Mill elementary. There are Crossfield kids in Fox Mill Woods that go to South Lakes.

We are not talking about Fox Mill Woods, sweetie, we are talking about Fox Mill Elementary. Families from Fox Mill Elementary and Estates are signing the petition to keep Crossfield at Oakton because THEY (fox mill) wants to go to Oakton.

Maybe but I don’t know of anyone who has done that. I have not heard anyone discussing Crossfield or any other school outside of commenting that they don’t know people opting in from Crossfield or Oak Hill. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened but if it is I would think that the parents doing it would have advertised the petition to the FMES families that want to move to Western. For the most part, the people I know are focused on their kids and not worrying about the drama at Crossfield.

Are you capable of having a conversation in a polite manner or do you really think that being condescending and rude to everyone somehow makes you look stronger? Just curious.

I’ve noticed the pro-Western Crossfield moms post some very condescedning posts.

They are worse than the RIO moms.

That's because the RIO moms don't post here, but their Facebook posts and other actions have been very condescending.

RIO moms and Dad are polite and patient.

I wouldn’t go that far but I respect their organization. I wish we’d do the same but half the time I feel like I’m one of the few people showing up at these community meetings and they are there in numbers.

RIO=Remain in Oakton.

These people go crazy over the prospect of Crossfield redistricting to Western.

Oakton is more white than Indian, hence their racially motivated desire to stay at Oakton.

And for the sports and home values too.

Thanks for the summary. We would also like to move to Oakton, but it is just too expensive to move there.

I don’t think the Indian thing has ever been mentioned other than by a Troll much like this post.

Read upthread. The first pp pointing out 20191 is Reston says Woods.

The 20191 zip is not proof that Fox Mill Elementary is signing anything. The 20191 may be Crossfield families zoned for SL and signing because they are part of the Crossfield "family."

You're speculating that it's FME. It may be. The zip code alone, however, does not mean anything as there are Crossfield families in that zip.

Fox Mill ES is in 20171.

Only the Crossfield community sees that so we’ll take the word of those calling us idiots…I’ve never been demeaned by any RIO moms at the community meetings. Look I agree, they are annoying but they haven’t been rude.

This is an anonymous forum, of course people are going to much ruder when anonymous than when you see them in person!

It actually means Rooted in Oakton because they claim that their community spends all their time in Oakton. Which is not true. I would have a lot more respect for them. and their desire not to shake things up, if they weren't lying about just about everything. The two things that really bothered me are all the comments about how it's unsafe to cross Fairfax County Parkway and that their kids play sports in Oakton. Look, I prefer to stay at Oakton, too, but I'm not going to lie about why. The reason is because it's an established school with a great reputation whereas Western is an unknown. It has nothing to do with safety, sports, or race. It's that Oakton is a known entity, pure and simple.

And, I suspect Oak Hill people feel the same way about Chantilly. But, they understand the rationale behind the new school. Crossfield families also understand that their commute is too long--especially when there will be a good school nearby, but some are not willing to admit it.

There are a whole lot of Crossfield kids playing in CYA sports. I never heard of Oakton youth sports. Do they play in Vienna?

But, the funniest comment on the petition is about bus routes. Poster said that the commute is not a problem if the bus route is "well-designed." There are two choices: I-66 or winding back roads. Not sure how you design either of those well.-

The vast majority of Crossfield kids play CYA. Some play in Reston and Herndon, but I don't know anyone who plays in the Vienna league which is where most of the Oakton kids play. Everyone I've talked to with high schoolers has said the transition to Oakton has been hard because their kids don't know anyone.

Most of the comments are about AAP - only about 20% of kids at Crossfield are in AAP. Many of the comments are about Navy - and no-one is even talking about moving Navy.

Crossfield students & families are intertwined in the Oakton community - we participate in athletic leagues & extracurricular activities, share neighborhoods & summer swim teams, attend aligned AAP centers with Navy & Waples Mill, and have built core memories in our shared community over many years with key events like our annual Crossfield v. Navy Basketball game.

My kids are in the navy AAP and most of their friends will go to Oakton. Establishing friendships are not easy and I hope they have a stable social environment during their growths. Physical distance to Oakton is not an issue if the bus route is well designed.
