22033 is Fairfax/Navy. That one road that is split between Lee's Corner and Crossfield also has 22033--but there are not that many homes there to contribute that many signatures, I don't think. Navy friends may be helping with the petition.
20191 is Reston. Fox Mill Woods. But, they are not at Oakton.

The real question is: where do the other 20% of signatures come from? That may be Grandma and Grandpa.

20191 may be at SL, but they would be impacted by a move to Western too.

The point is that Fox Mill families are signing the petition because they'd rather be at Western. Navy families are signing because they see the writing on the wall. If Oakton goes significantly over capacity, they're next in line to get kicked out.
Fox Mill is 20171, and so is Crossfield, and Oak Hill, and McNair, and Floris, and even Coates. The Navy Attendance Island also falls in 20171.

Electives might not be available because not enough kids select them, the number will grow each year as more kids are added to the school.

Kids are opting in, I know a bunch who have already done so.

The Fox Mill mom is going to pretend to be a sophomore to boost the enrollment numbers.

It really irks you that there are families from Fox Mill that want to move, doesn’t it? You do know that what is typed on this site has little impact on the final decision.

The poster, and others, is asking if kids will really opt in. The answer is yes, I know people. I am guessing that there are families from Crossfield and Floris that have opted in. I doubt that there are many from Oak Hill and I have no clue about kids from McNair and Coates.
Yeah, and south lakes sucks which is why we should move.

I don’t like our Black principal

Fox Mill ES attends Carson and the kids would like to attend HS with the kids that they go to MS with. Western is closer to Fox Mill than South Lakes. Many families at South Lakes would prefer AP to IB.

We know that you want Crossfield to move because you don’t like the bus ride to Oakton. That makes sense. Is there a reason that you have adopted the tactic of attacking and insulting anyone who has a different opinion?

There are several different people posting. I've posted about Crossfield, but I didn't post anything above.
Why bother opening a new high school when there is high levels of gatekeeping surrounding it.

All options are terrible.

Again I will say this:

Take all of Westfield Coates, all of Crossfield, and I mean all of it including the Navy island, all of Floris including discovery, all of Fox Mill, all of McNair, and all of Oak Hill.

With that, an estimated 2,162 students would be estimated to serve that high school.

Plus, after interior renovations, all should fit.

There’s a whole forum discussing how FCPS plans to FCPSify the former KAA.

New stadium and fields, removal of the second auxiliary gym, interior infills where open atriums exist, a larger cafeteria, and possibly modifications to the Auditorium.

Nothing major on the exterior except new signage.

With those changes, that 2,162 or more should fit.

If they can get Capacity up to 2,500 seats, that would be nice to accommodate further development.

Why do you keep insisting that the "Navy Island" is part of Crossfield? By definition it is not part of Crossfield. Those families go to Navy.
Crossfield was renovated and now has a design capacity of 750.

They can receive an extra 77 kids and make the island theirs, girlfriend.

My understanding is the reason that move hasn’t been made before is because Carson is already crowded. The size of the Navy Island has fluctuated over the years. It’s not a ton of kids right now but at one point it was much bigger. I think Navy parents would fight it anyway. Just like everyone fights a change that would force their kids to switch schools. Nobody wants to be the ones whose kids are caught up in that.

Floris parent here. I signed the petition to keep Crossfield at Oakton as that increases the likelihood ALL of Floris stays together at Western HS.

And, it would be more crowded if the Navy Island were added. AAP or not. Just because the AAP in Navy Island already go there does not mean there would not be additional students.

But, I agree that is not why. It has always been puzzling and continues to be puzzling. Is that the oldest part of Franklin Farm? Was it initially at Navy? I had heard it was initially at Oak Hill, but was not here then.

What point are you trying to make while thinking you’re so much smarter than everyone else? Yes, we know it’s an AAP center which makes it crowded. That’s why they don’t want to add more kids there. It doesn’t matter what they say they’re going to do with AAP centers in a few years. They aren’t going to move kids into Crossfield/Carson right now. That is all that matters. Shut up about the stupid maps. You’re the only one who cares.

They can receive an extra 77 kids and
make the island theirs, girlfriend.

I'm a navy parent a d we don't want the island or the chantilly feeding part.

We only want parents with kids in 5000+ sqft McMhanshiouns.
How massively entitled

DP. I am pretty sure that the PP was being facetious.

Fox Mill Woods is not Fox Mill elementary. There are Crossfield kids in Fox Mill Woods that go to South Lakes.

We are not talking about Fox Mill Woods, sweetie, we are talking about Fox Mill Elementary. Families from Fox Mill Elementary and Estates are signing the petition to keep Crossfield at Oakton because THEY (fox mill) wants to go to Oakton.

SEE - it's very few Crossfield families signing this petition. It's FAKE NEWS

Maybe but I don’t know of anyone who has done that. I have not heard anyone discussing Crossfield or any other school outside of commenting that they don’t know people opting in from Crossfield or Oak Hill. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened but if it is I would think that the parents doing it would have advertised the petition to the FMES families that want to move to Western. For the most part, the people I know are focused on their kids and not worrying about the drama at Crossfield.

Are you capable of having a conversation in a polite manner or do you really think that being condescending and rude to everyone somehow makes you look stronger? Just curious.

But remember the Crossfield families that want to move to Western are the ones playing nice, it’s the others that are demeaning people in this thread…
