A series 7! Wow! |
+1. I enjoyed the first season, but didn't find it as addictive as this season. I found the drama with the daughter and her friend/stolen bracelet to be boring and a little unbelievable. The Molly Shannon appearance was pure gold though. I don't think this season had that, not even with Tom Hollander. I was way more into the fourple storyline the whole way though this season, and there weren't any characters I could have done without. |
I need to go back and re-watch the part where they talk about Harper's work. I remember the "star at her firm" line but I thought they also mentioned a non-profit. While I wouldn't describe Harper as bubbly or pleasant I found her much less combative that I'd expect her to be when you have a guy like Cameron going off about sexual harassment. I felt like her "You're an idiot" was more a reaction to hearing his BS all week versus newfound intimacy, but Ethan obviously knows her best. |
And this is why I am rooting for divorced Harper in the Maldives (or wherever) in S3. Plleeasssee. |
Ethan is a gullible pushover who fell into tech bubble money. He doesn’t know her best, the meek progressive boy can’t even get it up for her. Cameron knew what Harper (subconsciously) craved; pushback, flirtation, spice, assertiveness, unapologetic alpha male. |
Face-saving defense mechanism malarkey. Two childless 30-somethings in a sexless marriage is a dead marriage. Classic starter marriage divorce. They have to essentially become swingers to spice it up. How aspirational. Not. |
Ethan didn’t win anything, he was being played by all sides. He was a mark just like rich Tonya was in both seasons. Cam and Daph successfully orbited and corrupted him and Cam will manage his fortune. It’s inevitable. Harper won a baby, potentially, and prevented or at least postponed an imminent starter marriage divorce. |
For all we know, cam is a rich legacy who attended Yale because of legacy donor status who similarly benefited from family connections to land him a plum job at some hedge fund. Furthermore, I have a brilliant extremely successful brother in finance who is not well read- he is not into politics etc. just because someone is smart successful and rich (even by their own merit) it doesn’t mean they are intellectual or well read. Cam and daphne may be smart, but they are not particularly intellectual. |
No, it's because this is supposed to be an entertaining show, and most legal matters are shit boring. No one wants to see what lawyers do on TV, unless it's criminal cases or people getting it on with colleagues in the office after hours. |
Very few of my Ivy League classmates are intellectual in that sense. Most chose hyper-specialized careers that allow little time for other pursuits. |
They were in his room anyhow. Shared door |
Np I tend to agree. She was in a typecast role in order to play herself. |
Dude, have you ever searched for an employment attorney? Half the sites are ambulance chaser sites. It’s the easiest and least stressful field to get in to. That and family lawn is over populated with attorneys from all tiers of school. |
The canoodling was after they had sex. The lack of sex was a big issue for them and they had it so they’re back on track. Of course, we know Ethan slept with Daphne etc but she doesn’t know that. |
It is you, brunch granny! So you took a break from SATC re-runs to find a different show to watch and completely miss the point of? |
