#Savopoulos suspect's stepmother describes him as "hostile." says he doesn't listen and is very argumentative. http://goo.gl/On1kO6

You can find his facebook page by searching for Dillion Wint (i searched him under that name after someone posted the link to a tweet by him)
It shows the same pictures of him as in media (washington post).

In which case, he's from Georgetown, Guyana, not Jamaica. And he lists himself as living in New York. (but studied at Prince Georges community college)

So we know he uses like 6 different versions of his name.

He kills innocent children.

He is a psychopath. Sounds like the rest of the family is too. His brother also has a major criminal record.

Who cares where he "says" he is from??!!!

the suspect is pretty dumb, leaving behind pizza crust that he ate....come on, hadn't he ever watched a crime show on TV?

And, for whatever it's worth, I am a white, middle-aged woman with kids who went to the same schools as the Savopoulos children.

I am black. And I am sickened by ANY senseless act of violence. But the race of the victims and perps does not influence my disgust.

Is this a new "black guilt" thing?

The race of the victims and the perps does not influence my disgust, but it reinforces my trepidation around young AA men in my DC neighborhood. I hate feeling this way. It sucks.

I'm rarely NOT terrified around black men. They commit a large percentage of crime in this country, especially considering the percentage of the population that is black. It is just common sense to be scared.

+1. And I'm white so of course I feel guilty for feeling this way, but I can't help it.

this is rodiculous and I am a white woman who tends to be paranoid about everything. I am certainly not afraid of black men. I work at a large law firm and my next door colleague is black, would not look out of place in a nice home on Mass avenue, same thing for staff people (who obviously do not have high salaries, and in some cases probably live on PG county). black men are also fathers of my kids' friends at school (DCPS), people I meet regularly at parents' gatherings and school events, I am certainly not afraid of them. among my friends are black women, but not black men, but I have fairly few friends, I have been living in DC for a few years and this area is new to me and my DH. if a guy like the one accused of the murders knocked at my door I would be afraid and I would not open the door, but not because he is a black man, but because of the way he looks. the time I was terrified at my home (soon after moving to a house after years of renting an apt) was the one night my DH was out of town, and somebody knocked at the door at 9pm asking if I wanted to buy wood for my fireplace. they were two white man and I was terrified, I thoght they knew my DH was out of town and they were trying to get me to open the door. crimes like this are committed by all kinds of people, I lived in NH before moving to DC, and a couple was murdered very violently by two intruders for little money. the intruders were two white teenagers.

If SS didn't know the deceased housekeeper's husband's phone number though, how'd he call the husband on Thurs morning after the husband came to the S house?

Some interest in accuracy is all. I wondered why people are saying he's Jamaican. Is this known?
He needs to be found! His friends on his FB page are also largely from Guyana, looks like. So you don't want to be looking in the Jamaican community if that is not where he is. (who's his brother?)

This is the scariest possible scenario.

See all of you!! This family did NOTHING to cause this. Their housekeepers were NOT involved. It wasn't the business or the people they employed in their home.

do we really know this to be true yet?

No, we don't. This guy could easily be on the periphery of the family or the business or employees thereof. And I am NOT saying that makes anyone besides the perpetrators at fault. I'm increasingly convinced that this is a Sean Taylor (RIP) scenario - someone knew someone who knew something about this family and a rumor that they would be a good target got to the worst people imaginable.

Of course I get that they don't want to compromise their manhunt but I live in DC and am wondering do we need to take extra precautions - is there a chance he could be lurking in the area? He is clearly a sociopath and dangerous.

Like what, exactly? Locking your doors? Locking your windows?

Just assume half the planet is good and the other half is evil.

why? Lots of people are brutally murdered. You've all lost all sense of reality.

THANK YOU. This is a horrible tragedy, but let's be honest. Horrible crimes like this happen in rich and poor neighborhoods across America every week.

She is the owner and/or project manager of several construction, contracting and renovation companies in the Rockville area. There could easily be bad blood between the suspect (and his family) if they had done business with AIW. Or, perhaps they were working on the Chantilly project and knew about the cash. Or maybe he had worked for his mother, worked tangentially with the victim's company and knew him to deal in cash. In any case, don't be so quick to assume it was random.

This.

They probably work in the construction business so they can steal equipment and tools. They don't really work. this is just a way to get victims.[/quote]

So now you have indicted, tried, and convicted the mother? All of this "they" talk makes me uncomfortable.

If a white person commits murder, do you feel sick about it?

I think people should maybe make a list of things that would help them feel safer. Not because this person is coming after them but because people are hyper aware right now that there are people all over ready to take advantage. If you live on the planet, personal safety should always be a priority. From not walking alone at night, always locking doors, never give out credit card info, never open the doors to strangers, etc. Maybe even things like not driving a fancy car or wearing expensive watches. Criminals notice these things.

Have at it. Personal safety comes first. But, I hope you're also cautious around white males. After all, whites are the PRIMARY perpetrators when the victim is white.

You don't get. The probability that a young black male with dreadlocks is up to no good must be at least 50 times higher than a white male, EVEN WHEN we are talking about a white victim only. So, from the perspective of a white person, it is perfectly rational to be much more cautious around a young black male with dreadlocks than around any white male.

I think an unsavory character is an unsavory character, white or black.

Exactly. I don't care what race you are...I am scared of shady looking/sketchy acting people of all races.

Probably not in exactly the same way. I mean, when a white person commits a murder, it doesn't further the majority's fear of and anger at white people in general. As a white person, it just doesn't have the same effect.
