PVI coaches getting chippy. Not a good look, but Nic Bell’s antics can bring out the worst in people.

STAB 13 - PVI 6. STAB ran away with it at the end. No shame to PVI, they seemed tired by the 4th. The crowd was pretty classless though.

LOL. STAB would steamroll Prep.

Not sure STAb would steamroll Prep.

PVI squad is gassed and it is showing.

They won their first WCAC ship in lax history on Monday night!

Maybe not steamroll but STAB is definitely better than GP. Best overall I’ve watched all season. Solid everywhere, smart play all over the field, apparent weaknesses. Hats off.

Spreading the PVI defense out like that in the 4th was smart coaching, and that ride is suffocating. Gassed them out to the point where the offense was flat and couldn’t recover. They’re not a DMV team but Stab is definitely better than any of ours this year.

Bells antics won’t last forever at STAB.

I could see him being pushed out in less than 3 years.

Sure, if he hits a kid. Three years, three VISAA finals, 2 consecutive championships. Kids recruited to top D1 and high academic D3 across the board. I’m not sure your metrics are the same as the school’s.

DC area top 5

1. PVI - WCAC champs
2. GP - IAC tourney champs
3. Bullis - IAC regular season champs
4. Landon - 3rd place in IAC
5. SJC - WCAC finalist

You can debate Landon vs SJC ranking but looking at data, Landon edges out the Cadets by a hair with more quality wins and better performance against common opponents (see Culver or Gonzaga results)

GC
STA

I'd say flip SJC Landon based on SJC OOC strength of schedule and making the WCAC final. Splitting hairs, though.

Congrats to PVI for being the clear DMV #1.

PVI started the 3rd Q with 3 straight goals to go up 6-4, and it felt like they had all the momentum. But the tank went dry, the wheels fell off, and STAB just buried them. It was a closer game than the final score indicates, but no question STAB dominated the 4th quarter.

Congrats to PVI for being the clear DMV #1.

Without question PVI is the clear #1 ranked team in the DMV. The GP faithful will likely have something to complain about it.

This might be the worst take on a thread full of bad takes. Congratulations, I guess?

SSDMs are critical positions because they are so regularly challenged by opposing offenses. Many "halfway decent middies" aren't nearly athletic enough to be reliable, much less all-league caliber, SSDMs. In most games, SSDMs face more opposing dodgers than close defensemen or LSMs.

Every coach of the IAC and WCAC teams would take an all-league caliber athlete at SSDM above several "halfway decent middies" because of how important the position is, and they might well take a premier SSDM over a premier #1 or #2 close defensemen.

The #1 draft pick in the PLL this year was a SSDM - maybe the Archers should have taken a halfway decent O midi instead?

LOL. The GP kid literally was told he wasn't going to see the field unless he switched to dmid. I'll take 55, 9, 22 and 99 over any d mid in the league on every single shift.
BTW - the PLL doesn't take who is best, they take players who they think will play a few years because their outside earning potential won't have them quit the league right away.

Hey prep Homer, you sound beyond delusional.

55 for prep is too slow to play d middie. He is a kicker in football who is doing a PG year - he is not even D1 lax player.

99 is built like a bird, not strong enough and would get run over by a bigger more physical offensive middie. He is good HS attackman and is exceptional off-ball

The best player in the IAC this spring is the Wade boy from Bullis. He is a lockdown SSDM and I anticipate we will be hearing his name at the collegiate ranks next year at Navy.

And yes go ask any collegiate coach. They will tell you the most important position on the field is the SSDM.

Wade was great, but I actually thought there were gsmes whete he wasn’t even the best Dmid on his own team. The Hampton DMid at Bullis was nasty.

The Hampton DMid at Bullis was a starter from freshman year. He is also a top player on the Annapolis Hawks. He is arguably the best player in every game he plays. Ask the coaches from opposing teams.

+1. The kid can play.

The move to the Hawks has a backstory but he was completely typecast by them and daddy ball and AA county favorites. His offensive skills eroded to where he basically has none now. Hampton's getting a bruiser but he's going there bc he gets hurt a lot and can't take the ball past the restraining line. He is a mini Jewel Walker in that he was put in a box way too young.

1. PVI, undisputed regular season & tourney WCAC champs. Only loss was avenged by a playoff win vs. GZ.
2. Bullis, regular season IAC champs. STA was their kryptonite. Still, beat every IAC team & both of the top 4 WCAC opponents they faced.
3. Georgetown Prep, IAC tourney champs, but never beat Bullis and lost to GZ.
4. SJC, WCAC tourney finalist. Played PVI tough both times. Avenged GC loss.
5. Landon, 2 OT losses to GP cost them the IAC title. Couldn't get past Bullis but took down GC and GZ.
6. GC, wins at SJC and GZ showed what was possible. 1-goal losses to Bullis & Landon stopped a good season from being great.
7. Gonzaga, only team to beat both the WCAC tourney champs and the IAC tourney champs. But only other wins were vs. WCAC bottom feeders.
8. STA, IAC tourney finalist. Combined for just 3 goals total vs GP & Landon, but scored 10 vs Bullis in tourney.
9. Heights, beat STA head-to-head but lost to lowly DeMatha.
10. EHS, 0-6 vs 'Top 8' teams. Lacked a signature win.

SJC loses to GC. SJC belongs below Landon. So they "avenged" loss. Landon 1-0 against GC, SJC 1-1 against GC. Not sure what other common opponents did.
