River's already been at two community meetings. I saw video on Facebook somewhere for it. The second time they gave River's HoS a midnight speaking slot, and most people had already left by that point. Now it looks like they're doing an independent town hall rather than waiting on the sufferance of the neighborhood association to give them a chance to present their plan?

Which two meetings are these that you just happened to see on Facebook? The one did they come to at February was ridiculous, for everyone, as you mentioned the late speaking slot. River School also made no announcement to the neighbors that they were "so open to communicating with" and had "multiple meetings with that were very helpful". Complete nonsense. Did you get that via the transcript during the February meeting? No neighbors were on it because no one knew about it! Class act for sure. If the neighborhood association is so intolerable to their standards they should go try and bombard another neighborhood. |
Meaningless says the person living in their multi-thousand almost million dollar home nice and comfy without a worry on where they are going to lay their head tonight. Gross. |
Did you know there are over 60+ parks in a 5 mile radius from 4220 Nebraska Avenue. Next. |
Errrr, you might be int he wrong chat thread, guy. Keep it clean. But it's okay to get upset when you know you are wrong. My 3yo does it too, but dirty talk isn't involved or is that a new class taught in private schools these days? |
I have also lived in the proverbial English basement in DC with spouse and child. 1 bedroom. There is housing in DC--it's just not socialist/Communist built and distributed blocs (yet). |
Past tense - lived? Nothing wrong with at all with the scenario you presented. You are right, that is housing. Socialist/Communist society now? What part of DC are you living in because pretty sure that is not one in the same. Are you going to show us a venn diagram now where they intersect? Get out of here with your Daily Affirmations, Stuart Smalley. |
42nd between Van Ness and Chesapeake is NOT two lanes going in each direction. One lane going in each direction with parked cars on either side which makes the road into one and a half lanes. No one is entitled here. We already have 12 schools and day care centers and a lot of people in giant SUVs who zoom around acting entitled when they drive their rich kids into a neighborhood they don't live in and don't care if it is unsafe for our kids but g-dforbid we drive like that in their posh neighborhoods |
that is not true.they had one meeting with a small group of peoplewhoown houses near the property and then snuck into an and meeting without it being on the public agenda so no neighbors could go so you are not correct there is no neighborhood association. this is not Maryland |
I'm pretty sure the smug feel-good socialism that the GGW crowd wraps itself in is about as phony and misguided as most communist "sells". |

I'm not a resident of the Ward and basically have no knowledge of what the usual process is for communicating with neighborhoods in the area. I can't find the link for the neighborhood meetings, but GDS was also presenting in one of them, so I assume it's pretty normal for the local schools to use that particular association as a forum.

| Any update on the River School meeting today? I live in the neighborhood but couldn’t make the meeting |
It was pretty useless. Basically, they said that traffic issues will be examined in their transportation study, which will be conducted after construction is complete. Other potential impacts to the neighborhood will “bare out in real time.” Cool, cool. The session was recorded but when someone asked where they could find it after the fact, the River folks said they’d put it on the “project website” - “when it’s established.” So for specifics, you’ll need to check the nonexistent website at a time that’s yet to be determined or announced. |
Pretty great to be recorded and not send out the information right away. If you are going to take additional questions by email after the fact you should be able to send the recording by email too. Zoom produces the recording of the meetings from the Zoom cloud in minutes, as most of us know that use this feature. Very slippery and not forthcoming at all. |
| Very unfortunate that River School is playing these games. Looks like they are determined to jam themselves into the neighborhood regardless of any adverse impacts on the community. |
