HBO The Undoing

When they have a character like Haley and the actor can’t get the American accent down, they should just let the (British, I’m assuming?) accent flow freely. We don’t have Haley’s back story, so NBD. An American accent that is constantly breaking into something else steals the focus of the scene.

yes, she is a great actress but I noticed her accent slipping immediately (I am also British). I agree they should just have stuck with the british accent. After all, there are a couple of hundred thousand brits in nyc...

I just assume that every actor is British in most premium cable dramas. It's a pretty safe assumption.

I was expecting and hoping for a Law & Order: Criminal Intent tale of twists to a slightly unbelievable whodunit. instead we got a predictable standard Law & Order.

I'm not going to make judgements on if it is Nicole K's plastic surgery or her acting ability, but her lack of appropriate physical reaction had me thinking her character was faking (like being terrified at the beach house) and her taking was a plot point. With the ending it really does seem like it was an issue with the actress and hurt the story.

It didn't bother me as her presence was so commanding.

The child who played Henry is also British. He does a pretty good American accent. After seeing him in Wonder, I was surprised to see him in the Night Manager with his British accent.

It was all about the undoing of her seemingly perfect life. Too many shows go for twisted endings and they make no sense. This one toyed with you but delivered a realistic end.

I enjoyed it as well! I do agree the testimony/heresay issues required us to suspend our disbelief, but other than that I thought this entire series was excellent. The actors were fantastic, and I was fooled by the twist that there was no twist.

Yeah. Haley was to sharp a cookie and phenomenal defense attorney to ever have agreed to let Grace take the stand.

Uh, no. Sean Connery was commanding. Dame Helen Mirren is commanding. Nicole is a stretched out face that registers no emotion. I gave up after episode 3. It was just one six part Law & Order. Waste of time.

When I was talking about a commanding presence, wasn't talking about Nicole Kidman, who my husband now refers to as Joker Face. I was talking about the actress who played Haley (Noma Dumezwen).

Can we talk about the opening sequence of each episode?? Until the finale, I assumed the young red- headed girl was Grace as a little girl and then they show her in her wedding dress when she married Jonathon. But NOOO... the little girl was Jonathan’s 4 year old sister who died, and he purposely married Grace because she looked like his dead sister with the wavy red hair! What a sociopath!!!

That would seem to argue against his being a sociopath, wouldn’t it? If he’s haunted by the specter of this child and looks for her in a mate? Sociopaths don’t carry any emotional baggage. You can’t have it both ways.
