HBO The Undoing

It does a good job of making the city look like a lonely place, even with so many people around. And a pretty good job of showing how uncomfortable wealthy people are around those unlike themselves, even though they go through the motions of caring.

I like it so far. Good production values, and I think Hugh Grant is good in his role. It seems a little too easy to figure out what’s going on at this point, so hopefully there’s a good twist coming up.

I think they should have kept the book’s original title and wonder why they didn’t. The irony was the whole point.

Well, the book title focuses on one act. The HBO title broadens that to include Grace's entire world and everything she ever thought she knew including the man she loved ... dun dun da...

I'm getting HBO just to watch this. So I'll have 2 episodes to watch election night. Or I'll wait for the whole series so I can binge watch. So many decisions . . . .

Uh, she wears them because the costume designer decided she would?

I find NK's plastic surgery distracting.

Jonathan was barely present in the book. Two episodes in and he is all over the place. Grace’s step mother doesn’t exist and no sign of her book either. Also, Hugh Grant is playing British so that appears to knock out the entire angle around Jonathan’s family.

Dave E Kelley doesn't (need to) stick to the book. Like Big Little Lies, just enjoy the show and the book separately.

I can't stand this week to week thing. I forget what happened. Gonna save it up and watch it all at once!

I wish HBO would release the entire series at once!

Kidman’s botox makes her look almost unrecognizable and the fillers on her upper lip are just weird.

They also dropped the plot line surrounding the publication of Grace’s book (which imo was the whole point of the novel - the lesson she learned there), Grace’s nearly complete isolation from her old friends and school acquaintances, and some other stuff about Jonathan (I don’t want to spoil in case it comes up later but I don’t think it will). Interesting that they’ve made Graces family to be much much richer on the show than in the novel. In the book, the author spends a lot of time describing how alienated Grace feels amongst the rich Manhattan finance people.

They’re making this into a garden variety murder trial with the idea that J just snapped.

On the plus side, I like Mendoza. He’s hot. He and Grace should get it on since they’ve abandoned the lake cabin storyline.
