HBO The Undoing

This. An expensive L&A dragging on for FAR TOO LONG

The show had some potential and some good early episodes but petered out in the end.

Completely agree. Also, as a native of NY, there were some flaming geography oddities at the end that annoyed the heck out of me.

We don’t have Haley’s back story, so NBD. An American accent that is constantly breaking into something else steals the focus of the scene.

yes, she is a great actress but I noticed her accent slipping immediately (I am also British). I agree they should just have stuck with the british accent. After all, there are a couple of hundred thousand brits in nyc...

To me Haley’s accent was fine. It seemed to allude to a Carribean or British or even East African background. The accent didn’t bother me at all; in fact made Haley seem like even more of a bad ass - though my impression of her changes through the course of the show.

Haley's accent didn't bother me (fantastic actress), but the dead girl's and NK's did. The former was clear not Latina (I learned from this thread she's Italian), and NK's accent was weird and slipped a lot too.

Talented cast but dreadful writing. Airless and no character development at all. I found it just weird and off-putting. The only character I liked was the son.

We were supposed to conclude he was a terrible monster with NPD but between the sisters death and Elena's murder there was just decades of being a healer, helping sick kids, and not much else. Yes the murder was terrible but what else was there in his history? Seems like there should be a clearer pattern of behavior. Did the book flesh this out more?

Good point. He lived the vast majority of his life healing people. And the death of his sister was an accident - he showed no remorse, true - but he didn’t kill her.

One part I found so unbelievable was when Jonathan went to Fernando’s house and Fernando actually offered to let him hold the baby!?! After Jonathan had an affair with and probably murdered Fernando’s wife?? So unbelievable.

Agree, he had a Jeremy Meeks thing going on.

Well to be more in tune with the actual actor who is from Puerto Rico, I think he looks like a young Benicio del Toro, who was really handsome as a young actor, and also from Puerto Rico.

Yesss! I used to have a huge crush on Benicio del Toro.

I loved the Undoing. I thought there might have been more of a twist in the ending though

+1
I kept waiting for a big reveal or twist. I guess Grace on the stand was it.

He had that angry mug the entire series. You would have thought he was a murderer by that face. It was scary to me. I did not find him handsome because of it.

I really hate her green velvet coat

He didn't look particularly angry in the sex scene we saw.

Her coats were a story unto themselves (so says the costume designer). I thought her wardrobe was great for her role.

I agree. Definitely not my style, but it made her memorable. I think when you are as prolific and easily recognizable an actress as Kidman, being able to differentiate your look for each role is important.

Well, he was furious that his wife had not only cheated on him, but then been brutally murdered. I’d have an angry mug too.

I don’t think there were any sex scenes between Elena and her husband?
