Not “only due to the pandemic”. But more than normal, and I won’t apologize. But I will be mad when you start throwing that “no child left behind” crap at me because your kid can’t keep up. Please be responsible and just hold your kid back if necessary. TIA. |
That's fine. You don't need to justify yourself to me. But the "will be better than DL" is questionable. That is according to FCPS teachers and administrators I have talked to in person. They say it won't resemble anything like a regular school experience. No collaboration. Limited class interaction. Masks. No lockers. No sitting with whoever at lunch. You'll be with the same 10-15 kids for core classes and lunch. And there will be tons of policing of social distancing rules. I get that it may be something, but better than DL is subjective. And I would argue, wrong. |
What have you been doing for childcare since March? |
And that's why there is the 'I"- Individual - in 'IEP'. There will be sped teachers/therapists and gen eds who opt to be in the buildings or who will go out on home visits or who will push their school system's Director of Special Ed/Services for local interagency agreements and memo of understanding to get collaborative support from Health Depts, local Community Services Bd, Social Services and the Disability Resource Center and the private contractors, ABA, PTs, SLPs, OTs. |
Virginia General Assembly finally passed legislation on 'collective bargaining'. Wonder if its implementation was moved a few weeks ago from 1-1-2021 to May 2021 to ensure a full school year without a 'collective action'? Union! Onward! |
Stop with the poor me, my life is harder than yours BS; you have no idea what everyone’s individual circumstances are. And most people do not work for free- we work because we need income. Working at home or taking a different job are options that you too could take. And AGAIN, a pandemic isn’t about the everyone doing whatever they want. We live in a society and everyone needs to weigh their own interests with the interests of the community. If you wanted to go to bars or the salon and not wear a mask- no one would care if it only impacted you. Sadly your actions impact me. I look out for you and your kids by being responsible. Imagine the outrage that parents would be crying about if this virus impacted kids much more than adults and so adults wanted to live their lives “normally” again, risking your offspring. So yes, judging people who are only concerned with themselves 🤷🏻♀️ |

This is the most tone deaf crap I have heard in a long time. My son got speech and occupational therapy through school. He has issues with self-harm due to anxiety from the change in his life.
I have empathy for you but if he has anxiety from changes, you should see his physician for an appropriate referral to a counselor. Even if kids go back it will not be “back to normal”. Normal has changed and will continue to change. It’s rough, lots of adults struggle with the changes too |
Softball is outside- yes, it’s different. It’s also for a short period of time with little close contact. And with other adults who have been minimizing their exposure. Do you really not see how that’s different from kids at school, inside, for hours everyday? |
DL being better than hybrid at anything, including education, is subjective. And I would argue that hybrid holds all the cards. |
Who cares what your Facebook friends are doing? Don’t be a sheep, you don’t have to do something dumb because someone else did. |
Not that different for somebody trying to put himself up on a pedestal as holier than though (he didn't write an essay just for his friend's group, clearly). And how do you know the other adults on the teams have been minimizing exposure? That's seems like projecting. I thought this guy had no credibility before. I see that I held him in too high of regard. |
So what? He shared his opinion, he’s not claiming to be all knowing or an expert. It’s interesting that people are complaining about him so much for being melodramatic while avoiding some of the undisputed points he makes. The number of deaths v flu deaths for an example 🙄 |
|
He's not avoiding them- he sort of acknowledged them on posts asking but not fixing errors. It's his now confirmed knowingly he was extremely wrong in his math and other parts but refuses to fix them. |
+1 people cannot even read his second paragraph “ You’ll get no presumption of expertise here. This is how I am looking at and considering this issue and the positions people have taken in my feed and in the hundred or so FCPS discussion groups that have popped up.” states he is NOT an expert, this is his opinion. Make your own choice from YOUR opinion. Neither option is a good choice. Both options are going to have issues. You need to make the best choice for your family. If you are reading that there is evidence that this virus is not spread by children, find that evidence from a reputable scientific publication citing research done in the US. Make sure this finding is not just a “hint” of evidence. Do your research properly. |
