“SKY Castle” is also very good.

I find this kind of disturbing, actually. Based on Netflix's "10 most popular today" lists, the general public has terrible taste!

From what I've read, a lot of Kdramas film the first half of their episodes (so 8-10 of them) before the drama airs, then the back half of the series is filmed week by week and the writers tweak or change the scripts to adjust to audience reaction. The result is often a mess. I've read this critique repeatedly on reddit and kdrama blogs.

I'd rather just have the writer's vision of the story from start to finish.

I also agree with a PP about the multiple seasons. The single season format is it's own unique thing, and I love it.

I doubt this happened in Crash Landing on You. The story is just too tight for last-minute changes. There is literally no fat in that drama.

Is this facetious? I really adored this show, and agree they probably didn't bend the plot to viewer feedback--but I don't know about tight!

Watch Healer - that’s his best. It seems like a strange premise at first but works

+1. It's a great show.

I loved him in The K2.

I'm not seeing nearly as much of the wide eyed "I'm so shocked you're kissing me" scenario in new Kdramas. Most are becoming more realistic and mature. If anyone wants a list of "real kiss" Kdramas, I'd be happy to oblige, as far as the ones I've seen.

Can you list your favorites? I’m one who love love loved Crash Landing and have tried many many since then. I haven’t been able to watch past one or two episodes.

I’m not the poster you are looking for. I became hooked on K-dramas after watching Crash Landing on You but none come close to the storyline of Crash Landing but they do make you feel good. Have you watched the dramas posted by the veterans on this discussion list?

For me Healer is the best kdrama of all time. And I've seen a LOT over the years.

Sure! For some of these you have to venture outside of Netflix - most are on Viki, which is pretty cheap and a great site. Here are some of my favorite "real kiss" or "real romance" kdramas:

Hundred Million Stars / Smile Has Gone from Your Eyes (warning: this gets very sad)
20th Century Boy & Girl (light, sweet vibe)
Come Here and Hug Me (this one's a bit scary)
Just Between Lovers (sad but uplifting, based on a true event that happened in Korea)
Because This Life is Our First (quirky)
Live Up to Your Name (time travel fantasy - somehow both funny and serious)
It's Okay, That's Love
Search WWW (couple in their 30's finding love amidst career)
Weightlifting Fairy (cute college couple romance)
Healer (I'm the Healer fangirl who also posted above - not realistic, sort of action-y, so fun)
Fight My Way (frieds finding their way in the world and falling in love)
Scent of a Woman (sad but hopeful)

I'm sure I've got more, but that's a good start! Hope some of these hit the spot for you.

Same poster with the recommendations above - don't expect CLOY from any of these! They're all so different from one another, but have more realistic romance development and scenes than a lot of the lighter goofier fare.

NP, if you like Crash Landing on You, you will like Shtisel snd vice versa.

I have a question - this is a spoiler

When Se-ri tells the guy at the piano benefit that these are the ‘best two weeks,’ does that mean she and Captain Ri are only reunited 2 weeks of every year?
Or can we assume they are no forever and ever together?
I am a literalist. I need to know what the ending means!!

^^I took it to mean just 2 weeks a year. But better than anything they could have hope for. And they’re grateful. Bittersweet.

They're only together 2 weeks of the year because they live in N and S Korea and cannot be together until there is unification. Sob.

More recommendations for a bit more mature Kdramas, you can watch all this on viki:

Lie After Lie (suspense, really good, kept me guessing)
Come and Hug Me (suspense, I really love the love story between the 2 leads)
Queen for 7 Days (Historical drama based on a true story, so good, suspenseful, love story)
Her Private Life (the 2 leads have amazing chemistry. Quirky and funny)
Oh My Venus (romantic comedy, the 2 leads have electrifying chemistry, love this drama)

I really hate the free VIKI platform. I like Dramanice instead.

I think I could be happy spending 2 weeks a year w/ Capt Ri and being alone for the other 50 weeks. He is totally dreamy.
