I don’t even see those numbers anywhere. New York has taken a big spike today though. I’m more worried about the number of deaths than the number of cases, because that will increase as more people get tested. I wish there was some gauge/metric on hospital capacity, but I guess we will have to do with anecdotes for now.

Those were the numbers earlier today. Apparently NY had a data entry error. US death toll is now 414.

It's normal, well documented human behavior that occurs throughout the world. If you talk about a disease a lot, people will start to worry that they have it.

Good lord right back at you. My doctor suspects that I and my three children have it. I guess my doctor’s crazy, and you’re right. We certainly have an abundance of tests so we can clear this all up, and they’re not given very selectively to people on death’s door and jerkoff Republicans.

I’m not sure, other than thoughts and prayers, why we’d just stop dying when every other country kept dying until they took preventative measures.

Well, it's true that my analysis is not as robust as paid articles in Medium by viral influencers rather than virologists, but there are better analyses out there that aren't from the media and are from actual experts.

Taken on the merits, that analysis is actually pretty good, but as far as I can tell from the existing data, we have not begun to flatten the curve and we aren't going to in the next two weeks. Well see. I stand by my projection for the next two weeks, but I'll let you know if I see any change in the trajectory that improves the situation.

Please share these better analyses from the experts. A lot of so called experts have already come out looking silly during this fiasco. Thanks!

His isn’t even A+. Lot of issues pointed out in the comments. But also lots of lame appeals to authority and emotion. His analysis should, however, at least give people pause to start asking questions about this hysteria.

Also, it looks like our daily new cases and daily new deaths have started to flatten out. Still early days but great news if the trend continues!

San Fran has started to flatten, but it is too early to know if it is meaningful. We really won't know until about April 5th where we stand nationally, and the SPring Break mess in Florida really throws a wrench into anything because Florida didn't fully shut down.

Currently, the broad numbers suggest the US is on a much worse curve than Italy.

The US, I can guarantee, will not learn its lesson. In fact, at this point, it's too late.

SK contained it (and it remains to be seen how they will respond to inevitable increases once business resumes) because they had widespread testing very early on. This enabled contact tracing and quarantining the sick. We don't even have the capacity to test everyone showing symptoms in the US...and we have explicitly given up on any kind of containment strategy.

I put this squarely on the Administration. They should have been ramping up testing and PPE production. In CA and NY, PPE rationing is part of the reason they aren't testing...they want to save PPE workers administering tests would need to use for hospital staff.
