He was in counterintelligence in the military. He's supposed to be a snazzy general. Instead he was just a two-bit criminal. |
FARA, that cleric, etc. So much other stuff. |
As far as FARA - you do know that a judge threw out Flynn's business partner's conviction on essentially this issue? And, what is "that cleric?" |
So you're saying that Flynn lied on his FARA registration too? A lying liar who lies. |
You REALLY should not be offering opinions on this issue if “that cleric” is not something you’re familiar with. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/nov/10/michael-flynn-trump-turkish-dissident-cleric-plot |
You are going to have to post a credible source for this story. The Guardian is nothing more than gossip. Have something from WaPo? NYTimes? Something that confirms this story? And, why do you suppose Mueller did not charge him if this story is true? Statement from Flynn's lawyers....... "Out of respect for the process of the various investigations regarding the 2016 campaign, we have intentionally avoided responding to every rumor or allegation raised in the media," Flynn's lawyers — Robert Kelner, Stephen Anthony and Brian Smith — said in a statement. "But today's news cycle has brought allegations about General Flynn, ranging from kidnapping to bribery, that are so outrageous and prejudicial that we are making an exception to our usual rule: they are false." |
What is wrong with you? The attempted cleric kidnapping is common knowledge. The Guardian is reliable, and that link was just the first one I grabbed. Here’s NBC News: “Special counsel Robert Mueller disclosed more details Tuesday of former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s efforts to cover up the extent of his ties to the government of Turkey while he was a top official on President Donald Trump’s campaign and transition. The documents specifically state that a key component of Flynn’s work for Turkey involved the government’s efforts to remove from the U.S. a Turkish cleric living in Pennsylvania. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accuses the cleric, Fethullah Gulen, of orchestrating a failed coup against him in July 2016. Flynn began working for Turkey about a month later.” https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/mueller-gives-new-details-flynn-s-secretive-work-turkey-n943926 Here’s the Post: “Giuliani’s conversations with Trump about Gulen came on the heels of a similar effort by Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, and his then-associates to promote negative views of Gulen during the 2016 campaign and the presidential transition. “We should not provide him safe haven,” Flynn wrote in a November 2016 opinion piece.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/giuliani-pressed-trump-to-eject-muslim-cleric-from-us-a-top-priority-of-turkish-president-former-officials-say/2019/10/15/bf43d1ec-ef68-11e9-b648-76bcf86eb67e_story.html Here’s the Times: “[Federal prosecutors] admonished Mr. Flynn in Tuesday’s memo for concealing his work for Turkey, saying it kept the public in the dark about the extent of its efforts to influence public opinion about the failed coup.” https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/04/us/politics/michael-flynn-special-counsel-sentencing-memo.html As to why Mueller didn’t charge him, it was because he was cooperating with a number of other investigations. |
All those prosecutors were on the Mueller team. Why didn't they succeed without a bogus plea deal? |
This wasn't in the plea agreement. |
Well that’s strange because it is all over the sentencing memorandum. Read the Times link. |
The sentencing memo doesn't say that they are not charging him with more serious crimes because of his cooperation. It says that his cooperation warrants a downward departure from the sentencing guidelines for what he was charged with. |
And, how many were charged as a result? This was just whitewash. |
