3/4 of black, Hispanic/Latino, and ESOL students are in high-poverty elementary schools
2/3 of white, Asian, and multiracial/ethnic students are in low-poverty elementary schools

I wanna live in central London, maybe Mayfair and send my kids to school there.
What can you do for me? I make $40k a year. London is segregated, only rich whites live there. They must bus us in, tell the board. Mayfair area is racist. They just give me cheap housing and schools with smart students. They are racist and segregating us all.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here? That London schools are also segregated?

I think the point is that economics drives housing costs based on supply and demand. EVERYONE has to choose a place to live based on those market forces. Do you think most people in Clarksburg like spending hours commuting? No, they chose an area that had the nicest home and amenities that they could afford, given the trade-offs of commute. NO one has the right to live in any given neighborhood or community, especially when they are asking taxpayers to pay for it.

Who has said that people do?

Multiple posts upthread from the same couple of people who want to add low income housing throughout the wealthiest parts of the county to “desegregate”.

No, what they said is that there should be housing for lower-income people throughout the county. That's not at all the same as saying that a given person has a right to live in a given neighborhood.

Explain to me, how will you prevent this from happening:

That's not how it works in MCPS.

So address the link, how do you stop the white and Asian kids from performing better than the black and brown kids? This is about wealth and not about race. You can’t make poor kids magically rich. That’s not how it works and taking all the honors slots away from them won’t help.

Nobody is taking honors or AP slots away from anyone. There is no such thing as an "AP slot" in MCPS.

That's fine so every English can be AP. If you say so.

Explain how you prevent the white kids from doing better like in that link. You keep ignoring the question. Look at the link, how do you prevent that?

Who is talking about preventing any kid from doing well?

So what's the plan then? Send some kids from Potomac 15 miles away to change the education culture of the rest of the school? To teach Hispanics how to speak English? To teach black kids how to study? What exactly is the purpose? How do you stop the white kids from doing well and everyone else from doing poorly like in the link. You keep ignoring the link because it's an example of the future of MoCo. The next step will be to blame them because they're white.

Hey, "don't over use those loaded words" PPs - is it ok to call this PP a racist? They think that

-Hispanic kids can't speak English
-black kids don't know how to study
-white kids will get blamed for being white

Yes, now is the right time. (But so much more powerful if not overused above.)

Oh okay so Hispanic kids aren't ESOL students. That's white and black kids. Got it.
I never said no black kids know how to study nor did I say that all white kids know how to study. Presumably they're going to move the wealthy high performing students (the ones that can study) to other schools to even out the wealth distribution. Clearly the idea is that they'll teach kids how to do better in school right? If that's not the purpose then what is the point of it?
I'm still waiting for you to explain how moving kids around will prevent a school from being like the linked one. You ignore it every time. Moving kids will do nothing.

I think it’s because your link, like your posts, makes no sense.

This thread, and the whole debate over boundaries, would be so much more interesting if PP would quit calling everyone either a segregationist or a racist. Or perhaps that’s why OP started the thread.

OP, there are people who want to hear what you have to say and talk about the boundary analysis. Labeling is going to shut down that conversation. If you are or were a student in MCPS, I expect better of you. You can save that for the real racists. They are out there and calling everyone a racist gives them cover.

It's not just one PP, and it's not "everyone" who is being called a segregationist.

There are posts on this thread that actually support segregation. Or at minimum do not have any objections to segregation. People who have these opinions are segregationists. If you don't want to people to call you a segregationist, then you can start by not defending segregation.

That word - segregation. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

Yes, it does. It's not limited to George Wallace in 1963.

It’s not anti segregationists, they are socialists. Everyone gets the same grade regardless or effort, talent or smarts. Everyone gets the same house and neighborhood, regardless of savings, job or career, etc. Everyone gets the same income from the gift, regardless of schooling or skills or profession. And every school will be the same parts black, white, Asian, esol Hispanic.
It will be wonderful. Diversity is wonderful. Diversity is everything. We shall force diversity at all costs to real education, senses of community, and inherent student differences in ability. It will feel so, so good.

DP

ever here of generalizations moron

are stats racist Asians perform better than whites who perform better than black and Hispanics in almost any objective metric of "success" of course this is almost all related to SES which as we all know has a high correlation with race in this area. Simply put there aren't very many poor whites in this area and there is an over representation of poorer blacks and Hispanics

so again are all of these facts racist. Take the advice of other posters and quit throwing around racism and segregation

You don't understand. It's not about helping the Black and Hispanic kids do better. MCPS considers that a lost cause. The new plan is to sprinkle Whites and Asians into the lower performing schools so that the average test scores go up. Get it now? Your child is considered a tool to MCPS.

yup imagine if you place of work started doing this. Everyone gets paid the same regardless of ability or output. Shows how insane this line of thinking really is.

Why do you keep picking on Manassas? Here's an example closer to home:
