Why would MU get squeezed? We are a DA family that lives in Ashburn. FCV is viable to us this year but no way that we are driving to Arlington or Springfield 4x per week. |
If you really think that those are the rules, then you should report both FCV and Arlington, as multiple Spirit players have tried out and been given offers to each. |
Officially DA players are not allowed to tryout at another DA until after San Diego. |
It is a matter of believing they are the rules. They are the rules. |
Rosters are done. Clubs gave early offers to their best players to prevent movement. You would now if a player was looking. They would have already made themselves available. You would also now if a rival club was intrested. Nobody jumps ship until they have a home. The ones that leave typically leave early. As far as DA to DA. I assure you, Arlington and FCV rosters are done. ECNL rosters are done as well. |
That is not true. They essentially put the responsibility on the player to get a release so they can play with another club. Whether the families are following the rules or not, don't know. Probably not because people don't read. Now on the club side, I don't know if FCV, MU or Arlington are asking or verifying the rules have been followed. From the rules: Recruiting Players/Territories Subject to the rules limiting transfers between DA teams in Section VIII.C, below, no DA Club has exclusive territory rights. The DA Clubs may recruit players for participation on DA teams from any geographic region. Clubs should note that coaches and administrators may be subject to the rules of other USSF Organization Members when they are recruiting for the club’s non-DA teams. However, those rules do not apply to players recruited to play full-time on Development DA teams. Clubs are expected to contact the player’s current Academy Director prior to contacting the player and request permission to speak with the player or invite the player to any club meeting or training session. Player Transfers/ Releases 1. Transfer of a player from one DA team to another shall be treated like any other adds. 2. Players are free to transfer between DA Clubs during off seasons, subject only to meeting a given Club’s registration deadlines/eligibility requirements. 3. Transfers during a season must be sent to DA Staff and the staff shall review and have the authority to approve or deny a transfer of a player in all circumstances. In general, a player who wishes to transfer to a new DA team during the season should obtain a release from their original DA Club in writing before transferring or communicating with another club. a) In all other circumstances, the DA Club has the discretion to transfer / release or not transfer / release the player during the Academy Season. b) Prior to approval by DA Staff of a transfer request, players may not train or otherwise participate with a DA team with which they are not officially rostered. c) If a player trains with another DA team prior to receiving a release, they may not be permitted to transfer to that DA Club. 4. Clubs wishing to speak to a player registered with another DA Club must state their intentions in writing to the player’s original/current club, the DA Staff, and their respective Technical Advisers. 5. Regardless of the scenario, any transfer player will sit all head-to-head regular season fixtures between former and new club, regardless of being released by their previous club (this does not apply to preseason or the postseason). If there are no head-to-head fixtures that remain in the current season, the player will be eligible to participate, pending service of any other suspensions. |
+1000. The basic point that all this “analysis” misses. MU will be the only DA game in town once FCV migrates to Springfield. We will not drive to Springfield or Arlington all week every week and are not an ECNL family. |
Page 11 and the bottom of page 20. Bobby, feel free to twist the wording/rules as you see fit. Not like there’s much accountability right? Wink wink, nod nod. |
You don’t think number 4 there has anything to do with this conversation? |
It does during a season, but if #3 is accomplished, then no reason to perform #4 as the player will be granted release. Now I don't think a player would actually go through with #3 without talking to another club though, which may lead to #4. Lots of use cases that could apply. I'm sure folks on here can pick one to make a club look bad. But I can pick one to make all involved look good too. The rules are in place. #5 is clear for post transfers. |
| MU rosters are done. There are no openings. |
Then you made your decesion. |
Yeah, okay. So there’s no rule/s against having a DA player tryout and train from a rival prior to a season ending for the next year? It’s the wild Wild West out here. So all the secret phone calls, messages through intermediaries are for nothing. Gotcha. |
