I love your optimism! Good for you.
Meanwhile, the CCL itself was formed to fight the existence of the DA. And we all saw how that turned out. I have no doubt the ECNL will survive, but despite doing everything it can to control where all the top talent goes, it's losing ground. |
| Loudoun will win. McLean and Arlington will implode. |
| Look at the talent. Loudoun, hands down takes it. |
I love Loudoun, and Loudoun is a club that has survived countless changes. It will be fine. That doesn't mean the ECNL as a league will have all the area's top talent, and it doesn't mean the DA will disappear. |
Traffic and club size will win. Loudoun and Arlington, McLean is caught in the middle. |

You people are clueless. ECNL and DA will remain. Leagues like NCSL, CCL and EDP will struggle. As both leagues expand, they will take the top teams as they did with Arlington and Loudoun in the past year. Talented kids on the teams left behind will ask themselves why they are playing on a weak league and will bolt to an ECNL/DA team, especially now that there are more options than there were a few years ago.
You are already seeing a consolidation of talent in these two clubs. If you are the parent of a player on an elite team, you already know this. You also know that coaches from the top teams don't bother going to top showcases if those showcases are not ECNL/DA. ECNL/DA give players a choice. Those who don't want HS soccer play in the DA those who do play in ECNL. Team like McLean will remain relevant because they have the best coaches. Elite players want an elite coach who can prepare them for the next level and McLean's coaches have a great track record. |
Loudoun takes beating in every ECNL age group. They have the worst overall record of all local ECNL programs. McLean, BRYC and VDA have much better programs. |
| Loudon ecnl u13 was much better than Mclean. Mclean becomes good at u15. |
| It takes a season irgendwie two for teams to get used to the ECNL level of play. |
BRYC doesnt take a beatin in u13 & u14? Is BRYCs record at those age groups really any better? |
Man the excuses for things on the board are comical. When you don't win, it takes time. When you win, it is because you recruit. When you don't develop, it is because someone on a message board is trashing your club. When you do develop, it is favoritism. It never stops. |

Simple truth is it is all a $$$ game. Pay to play.
Unfortunately, a family can now pay for their kid to play in what was a good league in most regions, ECNL. And the results show there is NOT enough talent to go around for all the 'elite' teams. Loudoun, BRYC (except '03), VDA in most cases & McLean below the U17 age group are punching bags for the ECNL league overall. The MA region is weak. |
BRYC may take a beating in the younger age groups, which is a valid cause for concern, but they have strong teams in the older age groups. Loudoun takes beating in EVERY age group, yet the PP crowned Loudoun as the best ECNL program. |

I don't have a dog in the race but continue to argue that if you are close to an elite soccer team, i.e. a team that plays in the top brackets of the top tournaments, you know that ECNL/DA remains a draw for the most talented players.
You can't judge a team at u15 or younger because the teams are not mature and not complete. McLean's 05 team was a disaster last year but this year is heading to the ECNL Nationals and has defeated some very strong teams in several tournaments. I believe that team lost about a half dozen players to the DA but then replaced those players with others from non-ECNL clubs. Loudoun will get better. Again, the teams that will suffer are the nonECNL/DA teams as they lose talent to ECNL/DA teams. Even the weakest ECNL/DA team will beat most of the strongest non-ECNL/DA teams. There will always be stong non-ECNL/DA teams like Pipeline, South Shore Select and other clubs who will beat ECNL/DA clubs as South Shore did in at JeffCup. |
