FCV girls will go to Loudoun and other local options. Barca will probably get the Loudoun Gray team kids that are displaced down the chain.

FCV girls will NOT go to Loudoun - not the DA girls. Loudoun has a long way to go to be competitive. Why move so far down the soccer ladder just for a shorter commute to some of the practices?

This may be the dumbest thing I’ve read here. If the top 4 or 5 girls from FCV da in any age group went to Loudoun they’d immediately become more competitive. Where do you think half the FCV da girls came from in the first place? They could also play for a stable and closely located club. But hey, do what you think is best. Enjoy the traffic, the FCV da kool aid, and your $15 hamburger.

Ive been saying this for years. Why do people fear leaving a club like FCV if their player really is as good as they say they are. Talent shines any and everywhere.

Yet, the players in Loudoun's back yard won't play there? Hmmmmm. Maybe because Loudoun's staff doesn't develop players, just collects U-little trophies.

FCV long benefitted from Loudoun developing players. Until ECNL came along. Then they crumbled and lost.

You're kidding yourself if you think Loudoun develops players. Loudoun started doing Futsal when --- last week? Laughable.

You’re not developing players if you’re not playing futsal said no one ever.

So Loudoun has these kids from pre-academy all the day through U-12. FCV sweeps in takes them. How in the world do you mean Loudoun doesn't develop players? If they didn't, why would FCV come and take them then? You do realize development has to start at young age.

My kid learned more in one year at a subsequent club than for four years at Loudoun at those ages. “Development” at Loudoun consists of picking the biggest and fastest players and placing them on the highest team possible. I’ve seen players at Loudoun jump multiple teams because they were super tall. Or super fast. Skill was not a consideration in those cases. That’s not to say those with incredible skills weren’t elevated, but those promotions took longer. Many of the kids who did get better while there were also heavily invested in third party or one on one training outside the club. Anyone who promotes the narrative that Loudoun “develops” from u9 to u12 is not giving an experienced and balanced view.

And then your club picks these big kids and starts developing them from scratch at U13? What happened to the kids the Loudoun girls displaced that your club had been developing since U8? LMAO.
Anonymous
People - please remember. Soccer starts for BRYC Dad at U14. You can't count U13 ECNL since Loudoun U13 is above BRYC in the standings. Next year soccer starts at U15.

LOL. You used Loudoun and developing in same sentence.

Ahhh. You’ve drank the futsal kool aid too. You’re a darn money train for FCV. Next up cost for you is performance and agility training in Springfield. By the time you’re done you could have just put all that money in 529 plan instead. But hey, when you’re daughter is making $20k-30k a year playing for NWSL or coaching youth soccer, it will all be worth it.

This post says it all. Dumb US meathead mentality.

It is hard to believe some people still think Loudoun does not develop players. Like you can just select athletes at 11 years old and they can win soccer games against any team in the state or neighboring states.

So - there is no way you believe that. You cannot be that dumb. Nice story line though.

Loudoun dad...here is a link to a recent ECNL game I found on YouTube. Presumably these players have been "developed" by Loudoun along the way since Loudoun doesn't recruit right?

In no way am I suggesting the players are bad in this video, I am suggesting the players and their families have been ripped off for close to a decade under the guise of "development" while collecting trophies.

Maybe many of these girls could have truly "developed" somewhere that valued development more than wins at the youngest ages.

I found the free kick shortly after the 30 minute mark very indicative of Loudoun Dad's "development" narrative. The keeper has easy options to play out of the back to and decides to blast the ball long into a crowd of people. Maybe without FCV as a neighbor, Loudoun will teach the players how to actually play the sport instead of kick and chase - said no one ever.

I think the loudoun ECNL teams will get better this year. I know of 2 players who really can’t commute that far and will try to move to ECNL from da. Why not, they know so many if the girls, go to school with them, and we’re happy there before they were hooked into the da haze.

I have U14 and U12 girls and that is how 99.9% of teams play in the dmv.

I have found only 2 places where this is not true and development is valued. But, of course, they don’t get the hype and get shit on. Luckily, that doesn’t matter to me or my kids. They get it.

I don’t see the big deal about the commute. Lots of fcv players come from Fairfax anyway, so the st James is a little closer just the opposite direction. And the rest of the kids are close to south riding which wil, take 40 minutes. That’s not a big deal and what so many already do to get out to evergreen.
Anonymous
The ones who don’t want to commute will just go to loudoun after a year if things change. Loudoun ECNL should be thrilled... kids won’t leave anymore and there older teams will get better by picking up a few good players. They will be able to compete with McLean.

Agree that good soccer play is hard to find. Almost always coach specific not club specific.
Anonymous
No they won’t, they’ll probably just go somewhere closer to home since so many didn’t live in Loudoun to begin with.

Loudoun will benefit only in the short term. After the new pickups age out, Loudoun will be left with the products of their own "development". Meaning kids that kick and chase to win the trophies at U8-U12. The players that want to play good soccer will seek other alternatives regardless of geography.
