It’s a solid idea. I think it would also add some depth to BRYC in having that added option of training with the pros. Plus, I heard BRYC discourages high school anyways (or maybe a lot of its players opt out). So it would give those players a league to play in. |
So why didn't they work out a deal to buy FCV? You seem to know ... |
Yeah, that’s a weird pair of mutual back scratchers. They probably are close offline. I wouldn’t worry about them. To your other points though, in the end, many programs build from surrounding programs: FCV, McLean (both peeled from Loudoun), DC United, Bethesda, and on and on. The new owner has said he wants smaller rosters and wants wins. That has to lead to some changes. The old leadership was fine with losing and rostered accordingly. Then they sold parents on development over wins as a slogan (which is an abuse of the concept). Changing leadership changes the core. I’ve been through it professionally and in schools as well. I’ve seen clubs change with it. So I have every reason to think Spirit is also capable of change. |

I really don't see what is in it for BRYC to partner with or even on the side send their kids to Spirit.
As far as can be seen Best has no more formal role with BRYC, so we are to believe that BRYC is going to willingly send their best players to Spirit because they are such good friends with Larry? LOL Now, that doesn't mean that Larry isn't reaching out to parents on his own but without him actively coaching what is the real draw for those parents and players? |
I think that is more likely, but if they did form a relationship, it could only help them both. Consolidate some younger teams and create options for older players. Until though something concrete shows up, no reason to think it will. All in all, Best has a strong background. This will be good for Spirit. |
| The new WS owner is pushing for smaller rosters and wants wins. That focus should attract now talent to the program and help keep the better players they have now. If they are serious about giving players that perform well more playing time, that is going to attract talent. |
| Has Spirit made any offers to existing roster players? We haven't heard any timeline about plans for the fall season and who is staying or going. |
Offers do not get made until June. Only outside non-current DA players can/will get offers. |
June? Where did you get that date from? We've always received offers sooner than that. |
Because that is when offers to current players were made last year. That is where I effing heard that date from. Outside, non-DA kids can get offers at anytime. |
| ^^^On another thread, people were saying Arlington DA players were already getting their offers. Seems like June would make more sense to allow for a productive spring season, but maybe they are locking in early? |
. Woah, testy! |
Well, you ask and you were answered. If you have have other facts that you believe to be true then don't ask the question. |
I'm with Spirit and we got our letters ahead of that. In fact, the whole club got announcements of when offers would be made to current players and it was well ahead of June. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings. |
Then offer the rough date when you got the offer and answer the actual question then. |
