"New owner wants better. He expects higher standards and a better record". Seen this one before - owner / DOC presses magic button and poof, things change.

Yawn.

Carbon copy BS thread as all of the other sock puppeted WS threads, brought to you by the same warped individual who spends all of their free time trashing WS.

It gets so old on this forum but it’s really the same crap all the time and there is zero credibility to what is said anymore given the track record.

The academy teams are terrible

The cost is more than FCV-BRYC-Mclean.

Spirit Pro team is now bringing the top talent from FCV-Mclean and BRYC to train with the Pros.

More than FCV? I don't have a point of reference for the other two, but FCV DA is much higher than Spirit.

Really? How many times has a new owner taken over teams in your experience? I haven't seen this too often. It's clear the last owner had a different agenda, which is why we have such massive rosters, but if the new owner sets different standards of success, why not?

This is one very connected person. Not only do they know who all the play ups are on all the Spirit teams but they also know what’s going on at the Pro team practices.

People we are in the midst of a true insider!

Is the “sock puppet” wrong? Is any y of it untrue?

All of it, other than the W/L records

Yes the BS runs quite thick in this thread. Looks like our friend has moved on from random sarcastic comments in various threads back to droning about play-ups and repeating that WS academy teams suck over and over. It never ends on this forum, all because their kid didn’t get her invite. Sad story indeed.

Oh I’m sure their DD is at Spirit or has recently left. Probably just can’t reconcile DD not getting playing time at such a bad DA.

Everything else is to blame from over bloated rosters to undeserving play ups. So they come here to right the wrongs against them and their DD.

What a mature way to come to grips with the fact that DD isn’t good enough for DA soccer. This level of infatuation and intensity is a recipe for an early death.

It's true. The coaching is good, but the rosters are big. There is some true talent, and some players that shouldn't have been picked up. The play ups should move back to their age groups, except the 07, who could maybe try 06. And with a new leadership in almost every position, most believe next year will get better. Spirit will likely surprise many next year. I don't expect a major influx of talent even though some will miss out on a great program. It's easier to stay with what you know than take the risk. I think though Spirit will do a better job with the talent it has, assuming it doesn't lose any key players. The only 2 age groups that may struggle are the U19s because they don't have many 02s and I don't think know how many 01s are juniors. And the 06s need help. The other age groups can take it up a notch.

Wonder if Best could establish a partnership between BRYC and the Spirit DA where girls with national team aspirations and who don't mind sitting out HS soccer and other sports play at the Spirit DA, and girls who want to play HS soccer and/or other sports take the ECNL route at BRYC. Gives younger BRYC players two paths and provides a better feeder club for WSVA than GF or Gunston ... ECNL and DA teams could do some joint training and scrimmage each other. I know BRYC is strong in its own right but it has lost some good players to DA clubs. BRYC also needs some talent at the middle school age groups so maybe some of those bloated Spirit rosters could be relieved by moving some players over to BRYC ECNL. I don't think ECNL is less than DA in terms of quality, but the two provide different offerings/benefits. BRYC ECNL is also a less expensive option than WSVA.

I guess this idea becomes less workable if the GDA does away with the HS soccer ban (which I hear may be coming).

Just a thought. It seems like Cziommer, Best and Torres are already collaborating across youth clubs by inviting their respective top talent to train with the pros last week.

It's actually unbelievable that a couple of you are creating a false person to point your finger for WS VA DA negative publicity.

2 months ago, Larry and staff were going to axe the program.

2 months ago, Larry and staff were working out a deal to buy FCV.

2 months ago, the program would have been axed if it wasnt seen as a cost benifit.

2 months ago even the TD couldn't tell you if the players had a future.

WS VA DA has bloated rosters because the youth staff was told to carry all those players. Reason? MONEY!

The youth staff told all returning families for 2018 that the rosters size will not be repeated. Not only was it repeated, it was enlarged.

The reason WS is currently buttering up to the McLean and Bryc players: Build the base and recruit their players for DA. They believe that be peeling off a few of the best players per age group it will collapse the team and cause migration over.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Nobody is denying any of this.
