It's now easier to perform an abortion in the state of New York than to legally apply a tattoo.

How often are you referring to, exactly? Who are these women you know using abortion as birth control?

It amazes me how people who probably have never been in the position to even be pregnant have such black and white views on what women who are getting abortions are doing and why they are doing it.

I grew up UMC, as did my group of friends.

I can name four off the bat who had anywhere from 1-3 abortions in their early 20s. All four are college-educated, self-sufficient women.

There really was no excuse for these abortions. They were careless.

So you think they should have been forced to have those babies then?

Do you think three abortions as BC is acceptable when you're a FT working working with insurance?

It's careless as hell. I took one of my friends to her second abortion and said if there was a third, I was out. She had two. My other friend had three.

careless

If you can spend the time having unprotected sex, you can find the time to carry a healthy baby to full term and give it up to some couple longing for a child.

Common sense is dead.

I think common sense died with you, friend!

Well there you go. It's really about shaming women for having sex outside the marriage. Don't you think you should shame the men too?

Why do you think it's shaming an intelligent woman to think that she should use commonsense about getting pregnant and having multiple abortions for non-medical reasons?

I think ok to make sacrifices. I know my mother did. It's what most human beings do.

Why do you think infertile people want to adopt those babies?

If you are so pro-adoption why aren’t you adopting them?

So, when men are ready to do this, then we can ban abortion outright.

This is the only reasonable solution for banning abortion.

I am so sorry that that was your experience with men. Dead beat dads? Try to find a real man. Maybe your views will change when you feel like a women.

I've already found a "real" man who was willing to get a vasectomy when we were done having kids. I just had my tubes tied instead after having a csection. He also was willing to use a condom beforehand even when we were married. He wasn't happy about it, but he was willing to do it because he wanted to be responsible. He also does 50% of housechores and childcare, all while making six figures.

Statistics back me up regarding dead beat dads. Maybe you need to learn some stats when you feel like a dumba$$.

FWIW, I know a dead beat mom. I don’t understand carrying 2 children to term and basically walking out on them. For all the turmoil she caused our family, it would have been better had she not ever gone through with the pregnancies.

My husband has willingly offered to get a V. I currently have an IUD and I also have undiagnosed stomach problems. The iud comes out this year, and he doesn’t want me to get another just in case it is causing my problems.

Yes

I do wonder how multiple terminations happen sometimes. I HOPE it isn’t just carelessness. I know I learned my lesson after one.

It’s a felony in NY to possess a firearm magazine that can hold 11 bullets.

But killing a unborn baby, nearly full term, that could live if it were delivered, simply “because I don’t wanna have this baby”, is perfectly legal.

It’s absolutely mind bending.

Name a single instance of a nearly full-term viable, healthy baby in the womb of a healthy woman with no medical emergency was aborted.

+1

I’d like to hear an example of this too. Otherwise it’s just fear-mongering. SOP for the GOP.

I doubt women who abort their healthy babies would want their names made available to the public. Would you?

Anyone?

Name one New York doctor who would abort a healthy full-term baby or abort a healthy late-term baby on a woman not experiencing a medical emergency. Oh you can't, because the New York law allows abortions after 24 weeks only when a fetus is not viable (i.e. the opposite of healthy) or when necessary to protect the life of the mother.

Not anymore. Not with the new law.

You could literally elect to abort a healthy full term fetus while having delivery contractions.

This what the women of New York want. They want to be able to make that decision, if they so choose. They elected the people that wrote this law, which reflects their wishes.

Just accept it.

When you have to lie to make a point, that tells us you have nothing solid backing up your argument.

The new law, verbatim from the bill:

Section 2 of the bill creates a new Article 25-A of the Public Health Law (PHL), which states that an abortion May be performed by a licensed, certified, or authorized practitioner within 24 weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or at any time when necessary to protect a patient's life or health.

Also, there are only 4 doctors in the entire country that perform 3rd trimester abortions, and a 3rd term abortion costs tens of thousands of dollars, which health insurance doesn’t pay for. It is not something people do on a whim. It takes weeks to find a doctor, get an appointment, be screened and then have the procedure. The only way to get it faster is if your life is in immediate danger.

Why would an abortion doctor admit in public to doing lateterm abortions?
They ain't dumb!

Good point. Why aren't you adopting them?
If your answer is "adopt," and you've never adopted, it's your turn.

I am infertile, and like most others, am definitely not interested in adopting a baby who may only live a month or so, in pain for most of that time.

There are some very special foster parents out there who volunteer to take care of terminally ill children, whose parents have given up parental rights because they can't handle it, have other children to take care of, or can't afford the care.

I suggest the pp who wants everyone to adopt these children to be first in line to be a foster parent to these terminally ill children.

The people saying "just adopt" aren't realizing that most of the babies that are involved in late term abortions will either be born dead, take their mother to the grave with them, or will not live long after birth.

I have friends on Facebook saying "just adopt." They don't have any clue what they are talking about, and are the same poorly educated, evangelical, non-critical thinkers who voted for Trump.

Truth.

You two have issues with women. Why do you assume women are this reckless, selfish, and cruel? Why is it easier for you to believe that women are this callous, than it is for you to believe that really tragic circumstances can surround a pregnancy or birth?
