It's now easier to perform an abortion in the state of New York than to legally apply a tattoo.

The pregnant woman and only the pregnant woman gets to decide whether to have an abortion.

If anyone else decides for her and harms her embryo/fetus, it’s a crime.

I don’t see the problem.

Wait until there's a way to predict if an unborn child is going to be LGBTQ.

The same people championing this law now will be frantically writing exceptions to it then.

Nope.

Can't eat your cake and have it, too. Sorry.

OP please give us statistics for how many abortions occur after viability and please tell us the reasons women seek out such abortions at that stage. Real life cases please, not just something you made up.

Until you can discuss these things there is no use taking with you about anything.

What else would you choose to call a procedure that kills a fetus that has been inadvertently born durning an abortion?

That is not the goal of the law and I do not believe this happens on a remotely regular basis. If it does it is a tragic accident. No one is murdering viable children.

If a fetus is born, alive, as the result of a botched procedure, it is likely a viable human.

Dr Kermit Gosnell is in prison for things that are completely legal now thanks to this bill.

If it happens ONCE, that's enough.

If you dive inti the text of the bill, it becomes apparent that it's so much more than just a full term abortion law. It also effectively allows for post birth abortion, and removes medical qualifications for those people who perform abortions.

It's now harder to be a tattoo artist in NY than perform an abortion.

Is this what we want?

It allows nurse practitioners, licensed midwives, and physician assistants to perform some abortions. How is being in one of those categories “easier” than being a tattoo artist?

It says "when a woman's life is at risk".

Also, this move wouldn't have been necessary if wasn't for Trump and the Rs trying to derail roe v wade.

Also, WV, MS and AK allows for late term abortions, even if the mother's health is not at risk. Please go direct your outrage to those red states.

Apparently, PP thinks PAs and nurse practitioners don't get degrees in any medical field, but somehow tattoo artists get PhDs in tattooing.

Because beyond being a mom, I am a person, and my own health and life has innate value.

This is part of why NY is a maker state, not a failed red state, by the by: equality for adults leads to better outcomes for all families and children over longer terms.

1) more people are fleeing NY than moving in.

2) being aborted is not a "better outcome" if you happen to be the one getting aborted.

A better outcome is killng you mom? No! thank you, next!

Being a licensed midwife is just a matter of paying the license fee and passing a simple test.

It's harder to be a tatto artist

So, how many right wing evangelicals are going to step up to adopt the desperately ill children that they don't want aborted?

Some of whom may only survive for days or weeks, or cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep alive for a couple years.

***crickets***

But they are all on social media moaning.

So you don’t know of an instance when this has actually happened.
