You obviously never went to law school or medical school. My experience and my husband's experience is that you should never underestimate your minority classmates because if you are looking for them to be on the left side of the bell curve in IQ or grades or work ethic, they're probably going to clock you from the right. Idiot lawyers and less than smart doctors abound, but it has nothing to do with AA.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT are IQ tests in disguise. The SAT scores for AA students at Harvard can be approximately 400-500 lower in SAT than non-AA students.

No. They were developed to be a proxy for IQ but that is no longer true with all of the prepping. For example, kids that raise their scores 200-300 points (which is not unheard of) did not suddenly get smarter. The higher score the second time is attributable to prep and exposure, not a rise in IQ. It would be more informative to compare unprepped, first time scores.

Score swings like you describe (+ 13-20%) are uncommon. IQ is real.

Numerous studies have shown that prepping has a minimal impact on outcomes. IQs were on a steady rise in this country until relatively recently when they've flattened and begun to decline. The number one cause is that unintelligent people are having more children while intelligent people are having fewer. You are obviously one of the former.

How about instead if insulting people you actually cite some of the numerous studies you claim exist.

I heard a talking head on TV quote $600M per year as the money Harvard gets from the Federal government in various forms. I guess it's not easy to turn that down..

Is China secretly funding these individuals? Do they have an alliance to XI? How many thousands of foreign spies have our top colleges groomed in the last 20 years? At Berkeley foreign TAs and GAs will give special office hours to kids in Mandarin! Only American citizens should be allowed in these elite universities. We need to train our own first. The "education is our greatest export" jingle is higher-ed PROPAGANDA. We built these institutions. Our tax dollars and tax breaks make them great. Stop the sell-out of our colleges, of our next generation by screwing over our children giving all these seats at top 100 universities and engineering colleges to foreigners.

When I went to grad school, we had many Chinese students. We also had many African and European students. It's not just the Chinese who have the means to pay for US education. If you never saw African and European students in your school, it's because you went to a no-name Podunk University.

It’s anywhee between 500-800

To be honest, h brings in more than that on a yearly basis through the development office so they should be willing to give it up

That's not why Harvard is fighting this. Plus it would be the federal government and the general public that loses out if Harvard is no longer doing critical research, etc. People think this will actually hurt Harvard, it will not.

Let them decline all federal funding then. Harvard can do what it wants with its own money. No one will care. Its president can walk around butt naked around the campus.

Cut the BS. It's a 2-way street. They need us as much as we need them. Do you think Harvard has a monopoly on intelligence and research?

Then they should. Why aren't they?

Absolutely agree.. as long you are including native-born, non-white people.

Universities, their income and their kitties have grown over the years. Since they are non-profits, they just pay their staff more. Look up salaries at public universities. Unbelievable. To keep this going, they need foreign students. Guess where most come from? China. The dependence on Chinese $ is so bad that China gets to control free speech at American universities. It's pathetic how universities cringe at the thought of criticizing China - https://newrepublic.com/article/150476/american-elite-universities-selfcensorship-china
