Like he paid. God you're an idiot. |

| The lead actor who plays Aaron Burr is an STA alum. |
| Very inappropriate to use the theatre to make a political statement, should have requested a meeting if he wanted a conversation. I don't disagree with the message, just the "attack" way of delivering. |

I think it's nice that Pence took in the show - perhaps it means that he knows he has to expand his horizons beyond Indiana.
On the other hand, given how Trump behaved during the campaign, he's lucky the security guards didn't eject Pence with a crowd shouting "Get him out of here." For Trump to complain about the behavior of the crowd or suggest a theatre ought to be a sanctuary/safe space shows what a hypocritical crybaby he is. I have no idea how we'll get through four years of this. We had a POTUS for eight years and now we're just going to have a POS. |
Well then they'd better cancel all the remaining performances of Hamilton, because the show in and of itself is a political statement. It was written as a politically conscious work of art, informed by politics and conveying a very clear message for this era. "Immigrants get things done." I'm surprised Pence wasn't aware of its political nature when he requested to go see it. |
Do you know anything about the history of performing arts? Just because entertainment has been depoliticized, it does not mean that there isn't a long history throughout civilization of using it for such. I think Trump and Pence are going to have to get used to these kinds of "attacks", because so much of the arts community does not support them. Maybe that's more evidence of their elitism, but there you go. I also don't think the language used in this statement was particularly offensive. I'm surprised by it, but in a capitalist democracy it is their right to use the platform afforded by their financial privilege. Some people will boycott them over this, but they obviously don't care. |
As someone who lives in "Middle America," I can assure you that LGBT equality certainly is an issue here, as it is in Indiana, where Mike Pence has enacted and proposed very anti-LGBT legislation. This is a big part of what the cast was addressing. |
| I have no problem with the message, I actually agree that it was a very good, well thought out statement. From a patron point of view, I think it was not appropriate place. They went for entertainment. |
The show was over. This was delivered after the curtain call. All the entertainment people had paid for had been delivered exactly as intended. Had they interrupted the show to deliver the message you would have more of a point, but, even then there's no guarantees when you're seeing live theatre. Want to make sure you get to see the same thing every time? Watch the DVD. |
Wait for this years White House Correspondents Dinner. |
Americans are actually being attacked and intimidated because of their race, national origin, religion and sex. I think little Miley Pence will be okay because an ensemble of actors addressed their concerns to him in an articulate, respectful, level-headed and non-threatening manner after the curtain call. When did Republicans become such p*ssies? |
Please, just no. I can't begin to imagine the caliber of comedian that will headline. Dennis Miller? Trump doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor or the capability to poke fun at himself. |
That explains it all! |
