Senior researcher, 39, about $88K. Single parent.

Having spent my entire working career in the non-profit sector, and having lived in several other places besides DC over the years, this feels like a TON of money to me...because it is.

What? The 500,000 is total. BIGLAW is considered a term of art so my autocorrect made it all caps, don't know why you are getting upset and calling me a name. Relax. If you don't know what BIGLAW is google it. And I work my tail off, my student loans are now paid off so I probably will go to a different job with better work life balance. Does that make you happy? Oncology nurse making way less than everybody on this thread, but I can't help thinking that I'm way happier. I love my job and that can't be quantified.

Program Analyst GS13: $98K. Sadly overqualified, I'm 56 and have 2 master's degrees. But I kind of had to take a low-stress job so DH gets all the glory and money for us. He makes $450K in corporate but must travel relentlessly and without much notice.

Physician/single parent here. What a needlessly unkind thing to say.

To the onc nurse: my dad's second wife died of breast cancer at 43. I was a second year medical student and didn't understand much of it, but it devastated all of us. She had some amazing nurses that made a real difference in her experience over the last months. Thanks for what you do.
