Is that the norm?

For a general dentist- yes. Specialists earn way more than this.

My boss' boss' boss is 34 and clears somewhere around $700k. My old boss was 28 and cleared $250. I have a 40+ year old and a 50+ year old who report to me and make under $100k.

There will always be those who make more, and those who make less.... If you start comparing yourself you'll go nuts.

Can I ask what type of field you are in?

Diversified financial services. Think places like Chevy chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One, BOA, PNC, eTrade, Freddie, Genworth, Bloomberg, etc.

I am thinking it, and knowing people who work there, I think you work in the copy center.

Thats the insult? LOL. For starters, I hardly stand out in the mix of other salaries so I dont see why this would even be worthy of questioning.. Second, why would anyone think $190K in financial services even remotely remarkable? If anything its on the lower end.
